Surfing @ Typhoon Lagoon

1. Are there any indications that surfing lessons will ever return to Typhoon Lagoon? I have one kid who would be interested.

2. Are there any surf shops in Orlando/Kissimmee that rent boards? My other kid and I would enjoy the open sessions, but we also don't want to drive 900 miles with our boards on the roof. I could always take a few hours to drive to the coast for rentals, but that seems a little crazy. Just wondering if anybody here has used something like Spinlister (kind of like a Turo for surfboards and other stuff) to rent boards locally, and has any input on that site.

I haven't looked into it myself, but I've had people tell me that they've surfed at the park post-COVID. It was also my understanding that they provide the boards?

I have driven to the coast and rented before. I think it was Ron Jon Coco Beach.

It's less likely in Orlando, would have to be associated with a wave pool...

@Lands of Wonder - Yeah, I really want to try a wave pool. Typhoon is an old type, but from what I've heard it's plenty fun. And consistent waves, not dealing with mush and chop is really appealing. I have the same concern about the pool bottom especially because I'm the world's worst surfer, but I guess it's a trade off. Concrete rash vs reef rash or toothy hazards. ;)

@mysto - I may just do that and rent from someone in Cocoa. I found a guy near WDW who will rent out boards by the day, but it looks like he's 40-45 minutes away from the park, and would require driving I-4 through Orlando so a trip to/from Cocoa may be more appealing and less aggravating.

@Poseidon Quest - They supplied boards for the lessons. Open sessions are strictly BYOB.

I’m spoiled, all I have is sand and maybe some pebbles. I guess you just have to bail once you hit a certain line. But it’s awesome because once you get the timing down you can find your spot and catch the same wave every time. And then the window period to get back out with no waves to fight. By me surfings so popular now on Long Island I think an indoor surfing wave pool would be profitable.
