Supper Idea (Staying at POFQ)

We are arriving to Orlando around 12:30 on a Friday and plan on going to DTD to eat Earl of Sandwich before we check in at POFQ. We plan on just hanging at POFQ for the rest of the day and letting the kids swim and enjoy the resort. We don't have any reservations or plans for the first night. We are looking for ideas for supper somewhere on property without reservation (don't plan on going back to DTD). Is Sassagoula Floatworks worth trying or should we head to POR for their food court?

Both POFQ's and PORS's food courts are great and with the exception of a few items they pretty much serve the same things. Now if you were looking to try Boatwright's (Only TS option available between the two resorts) you would probably be able to get a reservation the day of. Otherwise I have walked up to the Turf Club (SSR) and have been sat with little to no wait and its only a short boat ride away.

Thanks. We were wanting to stay pretty close to POFQ, but didn't really know what to expect from Sassagoula.

Check out Sassagoula! My husband & I really like it there. Get the beignets for dessert, delicious! We have the same plan for our first night this fall. Going to check in and relax. Swim, eat at the resort, roast some marshmallows & watch the movie under the stars!

P.S My husband says supper too. :)

The shrimp and grits at Boatwright's is some of the best we've eaten. Warning - very large portion!

Question - how does one take a boat ride from Port Orleans to SSR? Unless I've completely lost my mind (it's possible), the boat at Port Orleans stops only at POR and POFQ before it docks at DTD. I've stayed at SSR and don't remember a boat stopping there that originated in Port Orleans.

There are two different boats. One is for POR/POFQ/DTD and the other is for SSR/DTD. You need to transfer at DTD to go between Port Orleans and SSR.

You could also take the boat to DTD and transfer to the OKW boat and eat at Olivia's. Very good.

I know that - there are boats servicing 3 resorts to DTD. One for POR/POFQ, one for SSR, and one for OKW (when I stayed at OKW in 2013, the boat to DTD had a sign saying it was for DVC members only; hopefully that's not the case now). NiarrNDisney should have made that clear in his post - someone who hasn't stayed at Port Orleans before might, upon reading his comment, think the boat from POR/POFQ also stopped at SSR on its way to DTD. Quite frankly, if the OP chose to take a boat from POFQ to DTD to eat at SSR, I would walk from the dock at DTD to SSR - it may be faster than taking the boat back to SSR. Or just drive from POFQ to SSR - it's faster.
