Super Walmart Center

Hi all.

I was looking at Map Quest to locating the closest Walmart Super Center.

The reason beign that since we will be in the resort during Thanksgiving, I plan to cooking dinner in our villa.

I noticed that there are 2 Super Centers about the same distance from the resort, one off of Vineland Rd. in Kissimmee & the other off of Turkey Lake Rd. in Orlando, they are both about 15 drive from the resort, I just was not sure if one was nicer than the other.

There is a Winn Dixie supermarket right off Lk Buena Vista (535), near Tastee Treats Ice Cream and it won't be as crowded at the Walmart.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure which one I went to - I think the Kisssimee one, but we liked it, like someone else said don't go at night. They had a big selection.

Just to satisfy my curiousity, what happens at night?

Yea, I want to know too? also is it just the ones in FL? I go to the one near my home at all hours.

If we go it would be as soon as we arrive, say around 11am. I just need to pick up perishables items that I will need for our T-giving dinner.

I always go to the Walmart in Kissimmee on the 192 ...its great and i've been at 5:00 am and had no issues .It's about 15 POP and 10 from POFQ.

I think that is the one I am going to go too. I have been hearing that the one in Orlando is not a nice area..go figure.

Go to the one on vineland. It is an easy drive and only about 10min away. You can also get slightly cheaper Disney tickets if they are needed. It is a big store so they do have everything. We do the same, the check in and then make a run to Walmart to stock up (great prices on beer).

I wouldn't go to the one on 192 personally. I used to live in Orlando and I couldn't stand that one. I didn't live that far from the one on 535. It is also very close to the resorts. A lot closer than the one on 192. There is a new one on Turkey Lake Rd. but it is not a very easy place to get to from 4. It seems to be a nice one though. I hope you enjoy your trip. Thanksgiving is a fun time to be at the parks but it is a very busy time.

If you have any questions or need directions just pm me and I will be glad to help you.

what they mean by don't go after dark is b/c the area can be bad and is known for crime. there's some that like to target tourist...they know they carry cash and such. orlando isn't the safest city, people who only see disney when they come to orlando don't see that side. Just be careful. Walmarts in the area don't always attract the best crowds either.

I am glad someone brought this up. I need to get somethings on Thanksgiving day when I arrive in Orlando(cooler, food, snacks, Diet Coke). I know most everything will be closed due to the Holiday. My question is, how does Super Walmart work on Thanksgiving day? Are they closed all day Thanksgiving Day to get ready for the onslaught of Friday shoppers or do they stay open 24/7/365?

I am not an advid shopper and can proudly say it has been 10 years since I have stepped foot in a Mall. So this whole shopping on Thanksgiving is unknown to me

I know I am not in Orlando BUT I saw here in Indy, on the news today, that all the "24 hour" walmarts are staying open over the Thanksgiving Holiday due to the death at a Walmart last year on "black Friday". That way they will avoid the rush of people who are looking for the best deals etc...on that day. So, on Thursday it all should be good.

The only day that Walmart is closed is on Christmas Day.

Like you said all Supercenters that are normally open 24 hours will be open and the Walmarts that are not Supercenters will open as normal on Tanksgiving Day and not close until their normal closing time on Friday night because of the death last year.
