Sun & Fun Offer - Fewer Rooms?

I called Monday and got through at 11:30 am est. trying to apply discount to Poly std view room but no luck. First time I've ever not been able to apply a discount because it wasn't available for our room type. Now I suppose this could mean none were ever offered for our room type or the discounted rooms of my type were already snatched up before I called. I also called back today and was told to keep trying because sometimes they will open up additional rooms after the initial batch of discounted rooms are filled (never heard of them doing that).

Anybody else have bad luck with applying discount? I'm thinking the offer rooms available are very limited at certain resorts.

It happens all the time especially when people book a room expecting them to be discounted later. All that does is increase the chance that there will not be a promotion offered on that particular room type.

In that case, I wish some of those folks would drop their room creating some occupancy and discounted rooms (wishful thinking).

They were right that you should keep checking. Check back again, daily. (If you have access to a computer, the website is more convenient. I think I even saved my search as a link on my toolbar, for ease of use.) Rooms can and do get released for discount offers in batches. I did this 2 years ago when free dining came out. Our room category (actually, almost every room category for our chosen resort) was gone before we could modify our reservation the first day the offer came out, but at the advice of some on these forums to "try again in a couple of weeks," I started checking the website every morning. Sure enough, about 2 weeks later, more rooms were released and "magically" became available on the WDW website for the free dining offer, and we snagged one!)

I booked about an hour after the offer was announced.
Had no problems reserving at the All Stars for June, other than the price being higher than last year.

No
So I'm guessing you already booked and were trying to modify?
If so that's the problem.
Disney is going to offer less availability to room types that people have already booked without the discount.
This is why when I'm looking for a discount I don't book until that discount comes out for my dates.

Thanks for the advice. I do recall them mentioning (pre-recorded) on the phone call that you could check online using your MDE account and if "modifying" was an option by your reservation, you knew your room type qualified. The only active link box by my reservation is "Change Reservation" so I stayed on the line to be sure. I suppose there would be another link box if a discount could be applied to my existing reservation? Never done it online so that was news to me.

Yes, already booked. But the last 4 trips we've taken, we always booked and got lucky enough to have a discount come out during our stay and was able to apply. Never banked on one coming out, just a nice little bonus when it does.

Yes. If the offer matches up with your dates and room category, you can use the "modify reservation" link to add it.
