Summer Blackout Blues!

I'm counting the days until August 18th...no magic until then!

On the bright side, I won't have to deal with the crowds, the heat, and the long lines...Here's to the cool days of November and December, when the beer stays cooler longer!

Is anyone else having 'the blues'?

What suggestions do you have to tough it out?!

PS - I know the blackout hasn't really started YET, but I'm switching from the annual pass to the seasonal pass and our AP has run out!

We switched to the Seasonal Pass for the first time this year, mainly due to not wanting to deal with the heat & crowds when we have to drive 45 minutes to get there. Previously we were only 10 minutes away, so now it makes it easier to give up the summer.

Techincally the wife's pass is a Seasonal, mine is still Regular, which we will probably keep just so we have the parking included & I can hit a park before a concert at HOB or if something comes up.

Also absence makes the heart grow fonder. :D

I can't wait to go! June 22nd or 23rd the magic will start :sohappy: I just get on these boards or watch disney ride videos, or anything the travel channel has on Disney World,lol... Oh yea, I listen to Disney music too :p that'll usually pull me through until the big day comes

I feel your pain but for the same reasons you listed I won't miss it too much. I'll probably hit DTD and the water parks over the summer to keep the magic alive.

is that Florida Resident blackouts?

Yep, and I've got the seasonal passholder blues too. The only upside is I will have 3 months without Disney resort charges on my credit card....

You could always upgrade your pass......I originally purchased a seasonal LY, but when I did the math (for paying parking) the $100 extra was worth the full year + free parking....so I went back, and they let me upgrade the pass.

We are planning on doing that when we renew in December. The free parking alone is worth it.

We were going to get the Seasonals too, and then we figured out that if we went 8 times we would pay in parking what we would pay for an AP. When I proposed it, DH asked if I thought we would go 37 times....silly man...we got our passes on 3-11 and this weekend we will hit 30 for visits....

We had seasonal passes before and didn't miss the blackout in the summer just because the crowds and heat make it a really miserable day. But, the parking really freakin' adds up! We must have gone something like 24 times the year we had seasonals and the parking went up from $7 to $8 that same year. Imagine how much we could have saved if we'd have just gotten a full AP! D'oh! We didn't think about it until later but if you really go a lot, then it's really worth the full AP. Even if you don't head out there during the summer, it's better to have the option and spend the parking money on the difference.

In the meantime, hit DTD for a day, or have a Disney movie fest! ;)
