No...it's definitely not like that.

It's just one of those really good movies that makes you feel very romantical. :)

Oh.

Darn.

:lookaroun

I figured you meant that to be honest.

I ummmmmmm...

uhhhhhh...

*hangs head in shame smiley*

have been feeling romantic today...

My strange emotions confusing me... yeah... totally romantic feelings...

Not towards Allie... towards a girl I haven't really talked to in years but considered my first "love" before I met allie...

watched a movie last nigh with the song "This Year's Love" in it... it was her favorite song, we used to dance to it at high school dances and she played it everytime she drove me home from school...

She also LOVED the Dawson's creek soundtrack (i made her a copy of it... :lookaroun) and so i redownloaded like that whole CD and have been listening to it...

She actually was the perfect girl for me back then... but I was terrified of her, we went on two actual dates and I sat at the table with my hands under the table the entire time... in school, on the phone, online, or in her car we had GREAT convos... two dates and I became mute... I was so afraid of her...

I shoulda been with her back then... but I was too scared...

so i've been trapped in this like... I want to do romantic things and be spontaneous and romantic...

but i don't have an outlet for it... hahahahaha

(and therefore I watched a romantic comedy!)

I'm a tool. :D

Hey...it's quite alright to be deep and meaningful. Chicks dig that.

:o

The only date I've been on in seven months I told the girl I watch chick-flicks...

All my friends said a) you don't admit that, b) you shouldn't be doing it anyway, hahaha

I said... I want a girl who digs that and finds it funny/cute in me...

that girl did.

She was a psycho for 1,000 other things though so it didn't work out...

Well, let's put it this way...I used romantical to put it nicely...so think of another word to go in there yourself...and you'll probably pick the right one...:lookaroun

And Joe...you will have plenty of time to actually be romantic with a girl. (The real kind of romantic.) I have every faith in you that you will bring it out eventually. You just have to get comfortable talking to girls, which I can understand is difficult, but we really aren't so bad. I promise...and I've been promising.

You remind me of Raj on The Big Bang Theory...he can't actually talk to women unless he's drunk...then he's great. We just gotta get you drunk sweetie...

Trust me...it is worth every penny in my bank account...a girl LOVES a guy who likes chick flicks. It is the best thing you got going in your arsenel right now. Likeing chick flicks is like gold and admitting it, is really not a bad thing at all. WHF actually likes watching them with me...or at least that's what he tells me.

Yes... and this is why I go out on the weekends...

Everytime we get to a bar if I have a shot with a girl I'm like "it's too early"

my friends are like "why????? JUST TALK TO HER"

I'll be like "ok... give me... 15 minutes... WHO WANTS SHOTS???"

Probably not something good to admit to.

What is it that makes you so awkward around women anyway?

See... I figured as much.

And if a girl doesn't dig it... she ain't for me because I certainly need someone I can be myself with...

And a guy who enjoys a chick flick is unfortunately who I am.

Proud of it! :sohappy:

And darn well you should be proud of it. And definitely not ashamed...because it is one of the best qualities a guy can have because if a guy likes chick flicks, then we can share in that. No girl wants to share in a guy movie.

Trust me...

WHF made me go see the last James Bond movie...let's just say it was a good thing I snuck a blizzard into the movie theater...I was more excited about my blizzard than the movie. True story.

Needless to say, we haven't seen an action flick like that since.

I honestly don't know.

It's a number of things...

1) Looking like the creepshow just trying to bring her home... cuz that's not me. I'm looking to see if there's anything there so maybe I can take her out on a date sometime.

2) BEING AWKWARD... I fear the first like 5 minutes.... being awkward, making myself look dumb... looking like a loser who can't even talk...

3) The fact that it's not what I'm used to and outside my comfort zone. I just do not see myself meeting a girl at bar... doesn't mean it doesn't happen and couldn't happen. But it's unnatural for me to approach a girl I don't know and talk to her... It takes me out of my element.

The reason I went on a date with that girl was because I was at a party, being myself, not trying to hit on her, talk to a girl... I was just Joe being Joe... and she digged it... no one ever has parties though... :(

So... I don't know... I just don't have confidence...

"More excited about my blizzard than the movie"

that's a riot.

I actually was thinking more of my last post... like I said "I don't have a lot of confidence" but then again I really do...

I do, in my element... when a girl knows me.

I know everything I have to offer, I know how far I'm willing to go for a girl, I know how much I am willing to give for a girl... I know how well I treat girls... I know how there is a lot about me that, THE RIGHT GIRL, will really find irresistable...

but approaching a girl at a bar I'm not gonna be like "Hi, I'm a great dancer and a lot of fun because I don't care how I look I just want everyone around me to have more fun than I do. I like chick flicks, I enjoy romance, I like doing things for a girl to surprise her and sweep her off her feet. I love being in a relationship and just taking care of someone. I will always look out for your best interest before mine. I'm never serious and don't get really angry too easily... and I will always make sure you're having fun. My name is Joe can I take you out sometime?"

Nope... can't do those things... :o

A couple of things:

1. Well, as I've mentioned to you before, if you don't see yourself finding someone in a bar, then don't go to bars to pick up women. But trust me...it can happen...although I met WHF at a bar/country line dancing place...so there was that. :lookaroun
2. I think you are focusing too much on picking up women. If you just go out and have a good time, not worry about whether or not you're gonna connect with someone, you'll have a better time and may actually connect with someone.
3. Everybody feels awkward during the first 5 min or so while chatting it up with someone. You think that really goes smoothly?! I wish. I mean, come on...I was in a club talking about Disney to WHF during our first meeting. Who does that?! Ironically, you know what, that's one of the things he remembered about me and thought was kinda cool. I was myself...and just put myself out there for who I am. :)
4. Girls don't always think you're trying to bring them home. I mean, it's pretty easy to get the vibe of whether you just want to try to bring us home that night or whether you want to go on a date. If you get digits from a girl, she's thinking date. Also, tip...make no mention of bringing the girl back to your place. But that one should be obvious.

Wait...:hurl: Can't believe I just said those words.

What I mean by that though is that yes, you do have a lot to offer a girl and those things are amazing and the girl you end up with is going to be so lucky to have you...everything you mentioned is what girls look for in guys.

That being said...no, you can't just go up to a girl and say all that, that would creep her out a bit.

What you can do is just have a simple conversation...you know...small talk...getting to know each other a little better. Maybe mention things in the conversation to clue her into some of those nice things you offer...

definitely don't tell her. Geez...that's like those women who are in their late 30s or 40s who's biological clocks are ticking and they really want that kid, so on a first date they say about how they don't want to mess around and want someone who wants to marry them and have babies together. Not the smartest idea. Kinda scares people away.

 "I don't wanna take you home, not my intention... but i mean... are you interested in that???" :lookaroun

And point 2. This WAS 100% my problem before... and still tends to be because my friends just wanna help me because they know I'm uncomfortable with it... and in the beginning it was all I was looking to do.

Honestly... Friday night, I'm glad I didn't get the girls number I talked to. I mean, I think I like, knew not to. I wasn't feeling it. She was cool, nice, and pretty... but I wasn't feeling it... THAT woulda been really forcing it...

I still get excited when I talk to random girls because it's new to me, but... I don't get so worked up about it anymore... and I stop making that my main focus on the night... I have been just going out to just have fun.

The "date girl" we actually met out at a bar one night... she was there and I went to the bar to get us drinks... and I had three girls at the bar EATING OUT OF MY HAND...

They LOVED me...

When I have zero motives... I'm literally phenomenal. I probably coulda had like any girl I wanted when I was with Allie... cuz I didn't want them, but would talk to anyone and everyone so I was awesome.

So it's frustrating when... I know how good I CAN be... versus... how good I am being.

*hangs head in shame smiley*

but yes... I really am 100% just trying to put significantly less pressure on myself... just trying to enjoy life. We're only here once... and I'm only this age, at this point of my life, once.

Do I really wanna look to be in another long-term relationship right now? Looking back thinking "man I didn't live long enough single with my buddies just having fun..."

So, I'm doing my best to accept that, it'll happen when it happens... and stop trying to force it.

Yeah...single life is great...and definitely enjoy that.

That's something I really do wish I would have gotten a bit more of...not that I regret being married or anything...just now, looking at things...I wished I would have spent less time focusing on being lonely or trying to get a date and more time on enjoying playing the field a bit more.

So enjoy being single...it really is wonderful too. It makes you then realize when you do end up in a relationship how great it is. :)

And just pretend that you aren't out looking...BUT if you do happen to find a girl that you might want to get to know better (and that's the key) get her number. It's not a creepy thing to do. Trust me. Those girls you left hanging might actually feel worse because they didn't get the opportunity to give you their numbers. They might have thought there was something wrong with them, which I know isn't your intention, but sucks.

Wooooaaaaaahhhhhh Nibbs... that got close to Luke-Nicole right there...

CAREFUL...

but... no, thank you.

I know that. This girl who is my best friend right now with the boyfriend who I've been feeling mixed towards lately (mainly because we talk all day everyday and we're openly just best friends... and she's the only real girl in my life, and is beautiful... and I'm where I am...) (and this is not the girl i mentioned earlier from HS... i haven't talked to her in years)

REGARDLESS... this girl was like "if you can only just let a girl get to know you like I know you... she'll just be like "oh my god WOW" every moment of the day... her life will be so amazing because you're so funny and honestly you have so much to offer... so start pretending I'm every girl out there...

And I mean... just nice to hear a gorgeous girl tell me something like that... yeah she's my friend... but she's also a very honest person and would NEVER say something to say it... and she's quiet and reserved so if she DOES say something she means it. So... I've been building a lot of confidence... but again it's all for the "girl who actually gets to know me"

Just need to find my way to bridge the gap from "not knowing me" to... "a few dates to get to know me"

I'll be golden when I get there... I know it! :D

Yeah that is a good point.

There's really only been one girl I've talked to at a bar I REALLLLLY felt something with... she was incredible... gorgeous... amazing... also an accountant. I played the "hypothetically if I was trying to get your number, how would I be doing?" Which she actually loved... which was nice. We texted back and forth a bit the next day... next weekend she iced me... seemed entirely illogical.

I looked her up on facebook (my buddy was friends with one of her friends, so my buddies were like... check to see if she's with someone)

she was in a relationship....

she wasn't the weekend before... but her friend and my friend hit it off... and she said "she is single... but kinda has something complicated going on... but definitely make sure your friend gets her number they're hitting it off great"

POINT IS... that was one time when... It felt good... natural... it felt right. Like, I just felt comfortable with the girl...

And when I first saw her I was like "I am not leaving without talking to her... that girl is incredible"

So i kinda know... if it doesn't feel right, DON'T FORCE IT... I don't need to force it... Girls are everywhere... if it feels right, it feels right. If a girl is pretty and nice and cool but it's uncomfortable... I don't NEED to force it... I'll be alright.

I don't know I'm starting to completely ramble...

Maybe I should just go to bed...

I think i should.

Honestly... great talk Nibbs. Appreciate it! And it was fun! :lookaroun

Goodnight!

I meant it in a good way though...that you were worthy of finding a girlfriend...and those are the qualities that girls really do look for. No BS there. Maybe if you have enough girls tell you this (like your friend) you will believe it. That was kind of my goal...to try to get you to believe it. :)
