suggestion

Here is my first legitimate suggestion. To increase the power that some of the forum specific moderators have, and to add more moderators. There have been several times that I or another member have seen something that we could easily fix, but we have to report it, and since there are only 2 people that deal with all forums, and maybe 1 with the rest, it takes too long, and by then either a fight has broken out or it has been drifted too far. I am not suggesting by any means the power to ban people, but the power to edit/delete a post here and there or to move a thread to the correct forum.

But how would you decide who could edit/move threads ?
Would everybody be given that power (a little power in the wrong hands is dangerous)
Would those contributors who joined before a certain date be given the power (what about those who joined at the conception of the site and have less than 10 posts between them)
Or, those who have posted over a certain number of posts, or whose average number of posts is above a certain number(probably the best idea)
Drawing up a list of contributors taken from the above and let everyone vote for their top 10 or 20 in a secret ballot.

I kinda like the secret ballot idea though I feel that would be incredibly time consuming for Steve and the people voting. I think the best way for it to happen is for people to nominate and then have Steve decide who is most trust-worthy and deserving of the position.

I think we have had this topic discussed before. I don´t even know there is such a "position" available right now.

If Steve decides he needs someone else, I am sure he will come to the person he thinks is more suitable for that job without asking any of us or even letting us know. Let´s not compromise him again to a decision like this, if he even wants to have one more moderator.
