It sounds good in theory but I think it opens the door to trolling and would be horrible in practice.

We'd very quickly get accounts running around the forum disliking every post.

Lol! I actually really like the fact that there's no dislike button. 
But I do sometimes wish for an "ad hominem" button.
More recently, though, I feel down after a few of my posts of data were attacked for being misleading. This was in the parking fee thread. It seemed to me that there are some here who post attacks on people who post data that doesn't support their narrative. I suspect that's the underlying reason for wanting the dislike button. And if that's the problem you're trying to solve, OP, I'm a big supporter of you because posting lies and thinly veiled ad hominem attacks that are meant to shut down rational discussion are deleterious to the health and success of these boards. I mean it won't hurt things much if they drive away me, but it'll be a real loss if they drive away the valuable insiders and experts who post here.
What I've been doing is compensating by diligently using the "like" button to encourage the good posters.
