Stupid Camera Question

No, the camera is not stupid...but the question probably is.

Anyhow, I gots me a nifty Sony HD Handycam for Xmas!
-Took bunches of pictures on Xmas day...all could be viewed perfectly when playback on the camera itself. No problem.

However...

When I insert my memory card into my laptop (a Compaq notebook: Windows 7), it says I have "No files"? No pictures come up?

I've done this a million+ times before with my older digital camera & older memory cards, and the pics show up/load in my SD folder with no problem whatsoever. But with this new one, it says there are no files. Make sense? (Trust me, I'm confused).

Has anyone here had this problem or know what could be going on?
I know what you're thinking: "But Bob, can't you Google search this problem?" Trust me, I've been trying that for the past half-hr and only coming up with technical mumbo jumbo that seems like a foreign language to me.

Thanks for any info!

Check to see if the pics are in on-board storage. Many digital cameras have a certain amount of storage internally that doesn't rely on the memory card. Somewhere in the instructions you'll find how to transfer them to the card or download from the camera direct to your computer.

Despite stigma that says men shouldn't, the instruction manual can be a good read... ;)

It says it records to internal by default, somewhere it should probably tell you how to set it to record to the memory card first.

It worked! Got it set to record to Memory Card (feels stupid)

@Nemo14 nice try, but I'm not that easily fooled. :p
Besides...page 48 was telling me how to transfer to DVD player in Spanish.
