Studio Villa room vs a regular room

Hello all. I am weighing my options to keep my whole family comfortable when we go to Disney in February. I have been on David's Vacation Club rentals website and I can (hopefully) get 2 studio rooms at Boardwalk (or any other EPCOT or MK hotel) for WAY cheaper than 2 regular rooms at Boardwalk through the Disney website...

My question is what is the difference between the Studio villa vs a regular room?
Thanks for all your help!

A studio villa will have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa that sleeps 2 (though I would not want to be one of 2 adults sharing it, it's tight.) Maximum room occupancy is 4. There is a small kitchette that includes a microwave and fridge.

Some of the studio villas are now equipped with a hidden Murphy bed to hold a child or small adult increasing the occupancy to 5. Poly fits into this category and also has 2 bathrooms (but only 1 toilet.)

A regular room at most deluxe resorts will have 2 queen beds plus a futon-like sofa to sleep 5. It is comfortable enough for an adult. The room will have a fridge but no microwave.

DVC does not get daily housekeeping. On day 4 you get new towels and they take your trash. If you stay longer than a week on day 8 you would get a full cleaning. There is no cancellations with renting DVC points. You must be sure of your dates. It also works best when you plan 11 months in advance. That way you can find a renter at the resort you are interested in. Anyone else can book any DVC resort at 7 months but your options may be limited.

I know they are talking renting points of course so yes if renting points you do not get daily Mousekeeping. BUT if they would decide to stay as a regular cash guest in a DVC room then they do get daily Mousekeeping like any other room. Just wanted to clarify in case they would go that route and stay as a regular guest instead in a DVC room. :)

It will be me, my husband and my 2 year old in one room and two teens in the other... They should be comfy in any bed as long as they don't have to share a bed lol - It's a boy and a girl 16 and 14

Your welcome! Just wanted to make sure others that may read this know that if they book a DVC room directly through Disney then they are treated like any regular guest. We stayed in several DVC rooms before deciding to become a member in 2013. We are not messy people by any means but sometimes do miss the daily Mousekeeping :)

Are you comparing to rack rates? It might be more accurate to compare to something like a 30% discount, but no guarantees obviously.

With a party that size I think you'd be better in a one bedroom villa at either Kidani or Bay Lake Tower. You'll have a king bed, a queen pull-out, a twin pull-out, and two bathrooms (unique to BLT and AKL-KV). That should be much cheaper than two standard rooms or two studios.

ETA: Plus a full kitchen.

Agree completely. It would probably be cheaper just to get a 1 bed villa and Kidani and BLT in their 1 bedroom villas have another full bathroom in the front and the big master bath in the bedroom. Also you have the washer/dryer which can be really nice that the studios or standard rooms do not have. Even just me and DH we prefer a 1 bedroom villa for the extra amenities. :)

Agree completely. A Studio could defiantly be cramped with 2 adults and 2 teenagers, and one little one, and sharing one bathroom. They wouldn't be sharing one bathroom or one room....she's talking about getting 2 rooms, just not sure which type. Bathroom/space isn't an issue.

No, but they ARE asking about cost. A one bedroom villa gets them everything they need PLUS a kitchen and will save them hundreds over what they'd pay for two separate units.

Yeppers And a washer/dryer in the 1 bed villa which with a 2 year old I'm sure would be a definate bonus! Lol :)

While a one bedroom might be cheaper, it might not make the most sense for your family. A one bedroom is nice but it doesn't give the teens any privacy, if they need/require that. Oh, the teen years.
