Strollers

What are ya's thoughts on park strollers. I have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old. I am thinking on bringing two umbrella strollers. We are staying at CBR and will be using disney transportation.:confused:

We have always taken one "regular" stroller and one umbrella stroller. That way, if we don't need the 2nd stroller, we can fold the cheap umbrella one up and stick it in the basket of the other one.

We've been many times and never had one stolen, but we do make sure to take reject thrift store strollers, so that we haven't really lost anything if they are taken. Maybe that's why noone has stolen ours?! It's also a good idea if you are flying - I'd hate for a good stroller to get lost or damaged.

Oh I am so sad to hear about the swiped strollers. We used to always take our Peg Perego stroller. The last few trips we have rented on an as needed basis because we have driven down and space was a factor. We have always left our backpack in the stroller and Christmas day of 2004 we unknowingly left a lanyard full of pins (the 3 yr old took them from her sister and then left them in the seat when we had dinner at Liberty Tree)...everything was still there 2 hours later when we finally made it back to the stroller..it was packed that day.

side note: depending on when you go, the multiday rental option may not be available. When we were there 12-22 to 12-30-06 it was not available at any of the parks. We were told during super busy times they do not offer this discount. So we only rented on our Epcot day and one MK day at the end of the trip.

Wow, that's a great idea! I may have to do that for the later nights at the parks! Thanks.:)

I must be the only one who disagrees about bringing your own strollers. When we went two years ago, we brought our double stroller from home. What a nightmare! It didn't exactly help us at all when we had to fold it up everytime we got on the monorail or the bus. We still had to lug the thing everywhere, including at the airport and we had to wake the kids anyway since we had to fold it up. This past year we rented from Disney and it worked out much better. Yes, it's kind of a pain to carry a child to the buses or monorail, but if you have two adults and two children, you can each carry a child and still be OK. Also, as someone stated in a previous post, your own stroller can get stolen, whereas if you have a Disney stroller, I think you are able to show your receipt and get a new one if yours gets lost or stolen. IMO, I thought getting the Disney strollers worked out much better for us. One final thought, we have three children and although this isn't the safest thing to do, when the oldest one got tired, he sat down by the feet of the two younger ones on the stroller and we pushed all three of them around. It worked out OK.

nope your not alone. I think as the kids get older and you don't need that stroller every day for everything its easier to just rent. But if you go during the peak times, then the mutiday discounts aren't available..and that stroller rental adds up esp. over a long trip. If you can get by with an umbrella stroller it will be cheaper in the long run.

Count me in there too. I came back from WORLD last month. I have a 4 and a 5 yr old, so I rented a double stroller (for 3 days). I think I paid $48 but it was well worth it.
The 2 main advantages I found in the park strollers were;
----one the strollers were very good size so my kids sat in them very comfortably (I know it's hard plastic but it was never a concern for them while they were sitting in it). Not to mention all the space u have up on top and at the back for storage.
----the second and main advantage that I cannot emphasize enough was that, because of the big wheels they needed VERY VERY LESS effort to push. May be they're designed for the parks. All the energy that I saved in pushing a double stroller made renting the stroller worth every single penny.

Let me tell u that my kids do not like to walk; but walking to the buses at the end of the day was never hard for them. My suggestion is that the 3 yr old can walk and u or your partner can hold the younger one. I don't think walk to the buses while holding a 1 yr will make u any more tired than pushing a double stroller with 2 kids in it. Having said that, you are the parents and u can judge for your kids better. Good luck.

We just got back on Tuesday. Last week, we had our stroller taken while we were inside the Barber Shop. They claimed it was 'abandoned'. Right - we would leave our diaper bag on the stroller and just leave. Given where the stroller was, it wouldn't have been at all unusual for the CM who took it to simply check inside the Barber Shop to see if the stroller belonged to anyone inside.

I don't like, or agree, with the taking of strollers simply because someone thinks they are abandoned.

Was it a rented stroller, or your personal stroller? If it was your personal stroller, I really think that stinks! If it was a rented stroller, I have a little more understanding.
