Strollers

What are ya's thoughts on park strollers. I have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old. I am thinking on bringing two umbrella strollers. We are staying at CBR and will be using disney transportation.

I think that's a good idea. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. My plan is to take 1 umbrella stroller to have around the resort and DTD and such, but when we're in the parks we're going to rent a double stroller. That way, if the 2 year old needs a nap, he can stretch out or if the 5 year old needs a break he can ride for a little bit. I kind of doubt either will spend a large amount of time in the strollers, so it will also come in handy for my camera bag and diaper bag.

Definitely bring your own!!! We just went, stayed at CBR, with a 3 year old, and found that having our own stroller was a GODSEND!!! we contemplated renting, but after being there we were very glad we brought our own. I can't emphasize it enough!! Bring it! It will save you lots of time and make everyone in your group much happier. :)

have fun!!

If you are going to bring your own strollers, umbrella strollers are definitely the way to go. They are far less bulky to bring onto Disney buses, and if you have someone sleeping in one and are going between MK and Epcot (or vice versa), you don't have to disturb them.

BTW - Single strollers are $10/day and doubles are $18/day. You get a discount ($1/day and $2/day, respectively) if you purchase multiple days at the same time. And you can sell back unused rental days if you don't use them.

Bring your own. There is alot of walking between front gates and bus stops, rooms and bus stops, and yours will be easier to find than the see of them park strollers that all look alike.

Bring your own. I brought a cheap-o umbrella stroller with the thought that I'd just dump it before we flew home. It worked like a charm. Held up great and since it folds you can take it with you on busses!

Whichever you choose, strollers are great as it saves their legs and energy for making it thru the day. Our children are just now getting to big for the strollers and are seeing how much walking is needed to go thru a park.

I agree, bring your own. Not only is it beneficial at the resort but also at the airport. DS is very hyper, so we even brought the stroller to the pool so that when we were resting or drying off he was not running all around the pool area. Also as everyone else has said it's a blessing to have getting to/from the buses especially if they are sleeping, then you don't have to take them out until the last possible second before boarding the bus.

Look for the umbrella strollers that have small baskets underneath. They are so helpful to keep things you gather along the way or bring in with you. (perfect for holding small backpack with : camera, autograph book, sunblock, snacks etc).

We have done this - but now we take the umbrella stroller with us as the Disney strollers must be turned in at the park entrance and the walk from there to the bus stop can be very long with a sleeping child!

Oh and by the way TwoTigersMom........................FEAR THE SABAN ! ! ! ROLL TIDE ROLL ! ! !

I must agree with everything else. My kids were 1 & 4 last time we went. We had a bulky double stroller but it was defintely worth having it. Like others have said airport, check in, walking to pool and food court while at resort, and walking to and from busses, not to mention Downtown Disney. TRUST me bring your own you will be thanking yourself later. And you will be able to keep a little sanity while you know they are buckled in rather than running wild! Have a great time! We cant wait to go back!

Always take your own. Avoid renting, if possible. We've taken our two-seater (front and back) stroller for...let me see...five trips to the World. It's a little bulky for the buses but worth the hassle so as to not pay the money nor stand in the lines to pick up and drop off rental strollers. The bigger strollers allow much more "stuff" to be carted around in the storage area underneath. Also, kids can nap much more comfortably in softer personal strollers than those plastic rental ones. When my kids were younger, 4 and 2, they somehow took naps opposite of each other so that one kid rode up front while the other napped in the back. :sohappy:

Just got back from the "World" last week. FYI to everyone taking their own strollers make sure you have them clearly marked with a name or something. We were not in the park 10 minutes and my 2 brand new umbrella strollers were stolen!!!!! In going to Disney with kids over the last 12 years this has NEVER happened to us before. We were there MLK weekend and parked in from of Philharmagic, tied them together with the a backpack carrying our rain gear only to come out and have them GONE!!!! The CMs pretty much told me too bad and there was nothing they could do. It was a park at your own risk kind of thing. He said this was on the increase so I suggest to everyone who is bringing their own to mark them very clearly so you can look for it the rest of the day if this happens to you.

We had to purchase 2 Kolcraft strollers from the Contemporary gift shop to the tune of $40 a piece because my almost 3 yo twins were not handling the fact that they didn't have a ride anymore!

Also to all of you bringing your Peg Perego strollers from home I would think twice about that! They wouldn't even offer me a Disney stroller for my inconvience to use the rest of the day until I could get replacements.

At the advice of The Unofficial Guide to WDW, we tie a gaudy-looking bandana around the handle. It's worked so far. The same book had a suggestion from a reader who said to take an unused diaper, pour a little coca-cola on it, stick it in a large zip-lock back and tie it to the stroller handle. Now that's what I call a deterrant! :D

We have taken an umbrella stroller and rented as well. We found it easier to just rent. When we took our own, we made a card with our son's name on it and tied it to the stroller with curling ribbon. We let him put his fav Disney stickers on it and tied extra curling ribbon on to the stroller. That way, it would be easy to find and a lot of trouble for someone to take it off.

When we rented, we tied a piece of bright, neon yellow material onto the handle. That way, we were able to easily spot ours in the sea of matching rented strollers!

And mhead... Roll Tide!!!

I'll second that! As long as you've got two people to push them, you'll be good to go! They're just SO easy to fold up compared to any other stroller...and they're nice because if your bag's not too heavy, you can hang it on the back once in a while ;)

That's terrible! I'll have to think twice about what I leave in the stroller now. I usually leave the diaper bag in the basket when we go to a ride/show, just so I don't have to carrry it. Not to mention that I know those Peg Perego ones are fairly expensive so to have someone simply take it is awful.

FYI I keep a luggage tag around my stroller (name, address and cell phone #) as well as a shoelace tied in about 12 knots so that I can always find it quickly. And the luggage tag is there in case someone else finds it, maybe they'll return it

We always bring our own strollers. We have brought a 2 seater for the past three years, but this year will only need the one seater as my son has outgrown it. We always leave our diaper bag, and ponchos, toys and assorted other c*ap in the basket. It makes things much easier, and I am not looking forward to the day when we don't have it to carry everything.

I really don't find bringing the fullsize strollers on the bus to be that inconvenient. It is worth the small trouble for the extra room.:)
