Stroller Question

Okay so I've got a baby who'll be RIGHT at 6months old in two weeks when we go to Disney. She cannot sit up on her own yet, getting close but not yet. Anyway I've also got a 3 year old. I'm wondering if I should pay the money for the large stroller at Disney or take a regular large stroller. I know that they'll both need the stroller at some point but not sure how it'll work for the baby. I will be babywearing her for most of the time but I KNOW I'll get tired and hot and it won't be something that I can do the WHOLE day. Whatdoya' think?? TIA

We took a double stroller for years. It worked out great for us but getting on and off the bus can be a pain.........but well worth the convience of having our own stroller. Hope this helps.

By far, this will be your best option. I know that it's a bit inconvenient to take these strollers on/off Disney busses, but you'll be glad to have this, especially for the little one. Let's face it, the Disney strollers are not meant for kids under 1, and are VERY expensive (at least I think they are) to rent. You won't regret your own stroller. You can always leave your stroller, if it does become too cumbersome, at the hotel and rent, but I doubt you'll prefer the park strollers over your own. I brought our own big stroller (the system stroller, with canopy, ability to recline and basket underneath) when my daughter was 15 months and I was very grateful for it at nap time. (She took very good naps and was not grumpy during our entire trip!)

It also gets very warm holding a child for hours in the Florida sun....

If you have another adult going with you, you could always bring 2 separate strollers along instead of a double. We did and it was great. The doubles are just so big and difficult to get around in. Bring a little ski lock with and you can always leave one of the strollers behind if you need to.

They also make those little seats you attach to the back of your stroller so the older one can tag along and ride with you. We had one of those too and it was great. Unfortunately, the name escapes me right now. But Toys R Us has a similar thing called a "Buggy Board". Same idea, but it is only for the older child to stand and not sit. Just do a google on "Stroller ride along" and see what's out there.

We took a double, but have the side by side double umbrella type by Jeep. My husband wasn't a fan of its steering, but I use it constantly and don't have a problem with it. The only time it was a hassle was actually taking stuff off of it to get on the bus, otherwise, it was no big deal. Definitely a sacrifice I was willing to make to have it at the parks all day. We did rent a single for my daughter, which occasionally all three kids traded off to be in. For our one year old, we were constantly trying to make it comfortable for him, which was a hassle.

Thanks, I think I'm going to just take the travel system stroller and they can switch in and out. I carry the baby in a ring sling most of the time but I knew that they both will need to be laid down at some point in time. We might even take the umbrella stroller and see how that goes, I think the laying down option would be good though as well as the canopy part. Plus it's got the storage underneath for the diaperbag and snacks and all that good stuff, it's pretty easy to fold up too and not too heavy to travel with. LOL I guess I've pretty much got my mind made up. LOL

FYI They do sell umbrella strollers at WDW. We saw them a few times on our trip and knew it was an option if 4yo needed it.

Not to hijack, but we are in a kinda similar dilema. We have an almost 3 year old daughter and will be heading to WDW for 11 days. Earlier this year it was a short 3 day trip so we just rented. Not goign to rent this time. We have an umbrella that my wife and I are not very fond of. Its great for a quick mall run or something like that. But lacks any cup holders, or any real storage. Does anyone know of an umbrella that has cup holders for mom and dad and a larger storage bin. We saw one at Target but wasn't a true umbrella, but had cup holder and a tray for our daughter and a larger bin and drink holders for mom and dad. I think we will be driving to the park (only MK) as we are staying at Beach club so we can walk to epcot and boat to DHS. So we can avoid the buses all together.

Thanks and enjoy your trip

I "think" the jeep umbrella strollers have cup holders for mom and dad but COULD be wrong. They look pretty nice, my SIL just got one so that her dd could lay and sleep in it as it leans back a little. HTH a little. Good luck!! Hey we'll be there in about 13 days!! We're leaving for DW on the 31 OR 1 depending on DH's work schedule!! Cant wait!!
