Stroller Question for Park Hopping

Hi Everyone,

We are going this summer with our little one, he will be 9 month during our trip. My question is concerning strollers. Right now we have a Uppa Baby Cruz, its comfortable not too big he finds it super comfortable.
Should we look at getting another kind of stroller, smaller umbrella type?

My wife thinks it might get stolen during a ride, while its parked out front. Also that it might be too big to navigate MK's crowded paths.

We have never traveled with a little one before - any advice would be great.
Thanks
NM

No.

No.

1. Get good (fast) at opening and closing the stroller. It makes getting on and off of the buses much easier if you can do it quickly.

2. Buy a protective bag / case / sleeve for the airplane. That's a fairly expensive stroller and you don't want it to get beat to hell by the airport staff.

3. Keep the stroller with you in the airport and gate check it. Makes navigating the airport itself easier with the little one and it minimizes the damage it will take.

Leave the CRUZ UPPAbaby at home. Seriously. Nevermind that it's $550 (LOL).

Get a compact, lightweight, easily collapsible stroller - like this Chicco C6 Stroller (which is what we use). Pop it with your leg underneath, push down and it clicks closed. Voila. Weighs nothing, comes with a bag and shoulder strap for carrying or checking on an airline (which it has survived about half a dozen R/Ts this way so far, including internationally). Never had an issue with it - or anyone stealing it. Super easy to use on the Disney buses too.

Don't be one of those parents that lug a huge, hard, three-part stroller built for a Battlestar onslaught. LOL... There are more than you think.

It's not likely to get stolen, but it can get really wet in the stroller parking area if a downpour happens when you are riding an attraction. If rain is possible, clip a poncho over it before you park it (take the kid out first, LOL)

The smaller and more navigable your stroller, the better, especially if you plan on taking Disney transportation frequently. For the first time on our most recent trip, I noticed families not being able to board monorails (and a couple of times, even buses) when they had reached "standing room only" capacity, because their strollers (not folded umbrella strollers, but elaborate monstrosities with bike-sized wheels and eight drink holders) were just too big to fit in the available space.

In addition to the advice above, if you are using a stroller with storage underneath, we found that having everything in a backpack made getting on and off trams and busses much easier. My wife would grab the rug rat and I would put on the backpack and fold up the stroller.

We used a grungy tote bag and it was a life saver. Plus because it didn't look expensive or nice, we felt comfortable leaving it in the stroller parking with the stroller while we explored rides and attractions.

I agree that something like that is ideal, but I don't think it's necessary to buy one if you don't have one already. We use a Zobo Bolt (discontinued... RIP Babies r Us). The stroller he has is reasonably compact.

Well, consider the cost alone - the CRUZ is $550 and the Chicco is $79. Which would you rather have the airlines mangle? Bang around a bus and leave unattended? More practically, the Chicco is much lighter and compact, which makes a huge difference at WDW. You don't need it - you're right. But...

You don't have to tell me twice. I think fancy designer strollers are insane no matter where you're pushing it. Our primary is a Graco Roomfor2. $110, the car seat clicks right in, big sister has a place to stand, and I'll dispose of it with no financial guilt whatsoever once we destroy it.

Oh, yeah - for sure. We had one of those multi-accessory monster strollers that doubles as a car seat, etc. It sounds good on paper... But in practice it's a nightmare; heavy, bulky and doesn't collapse for )(*@$.

They are workable in the parks when they are infants.

They are garbage on stilts once they can walk.

Its easier to fold and carry that when neccessary, i.e., buses. They're easier to navigate the crushing crowds, and as you mention about it getting stolen, they're cheap so you're out of short money. Besides see my poing below about strollers getting stolen :)

My wife thinks it might get stolen during a ride, while its parked out fron
I don't think it will get stolen, your stroller is going to be one of thousands:

Also that it might be too big to navigate MK's crowded paths.
Smaller is better, in crowds, no question, but you have to ask yourself does it work for you and your family?

Food for thought, I saw a fair number of these strollers in WDW this past April. I think it made life a lot better for little ones and while not a cheap umbrella stroller you may want to consider it. I'm not recommending this specifi model, just google wagon strollers.

Thanks everyone.....great tips.

-- more room there is for OTHER people. --
Room in WDW - even our current stroller takes MUCH up less space than many people we see walking through the parks.

Seriously though - - - Our little guy has the right be be comfortable just as much as anyone else.

If you are looking for spacious room to move, strollers or not, WDW is not the place to go.
35 million people went through the gates at MK in 2017 - that is almost the population of Canada! - In 1 park!!!

Lol...if your stroller was smaller it would help other people.

There are rental companies down there that deliver and pick up you could look in to also if you didn't want to bring your own.

I personally, would never bring my expensive stroller on any vacation (that requires flying). Are you flying? That was my main concern; that it would get banged around by the airline. I just rented a stroller from Kingdom Strollers. They're city minis and were perfect for the parks.

I bring my Uppa baby Vista every trip! Ours is a bright yellow color and easy to find. The sunshade is amazing with the FL sun and my little one takes naps in it because it’s what he’s used to. Plus the basket for storage is so easily accessible. I personally think these strollers are worth every penny I spent. Honestly I’ve been looking to buy new the uppa minu because it’s more lightweight and compact. If you’re worried about it being stolen zip tie a Tile tracker to it.
