Strobes on the castle

I'm not trying to "diss" Disney here but I seem to remember the Castle having strobes all over it, the effect was really cool to see the strobes flashing evenly all over the castle from top to bottom. After recently seeing the fireworks at the Pirate and Princess party it really just looked like a half lit Christmas tree when the strobes were on. The bottom of the castle had lots of strobes and the upper area just had a few spread out. Since they just painted the castle wouldn't it have been cost effective to change the blown strobes at the same time. Just watch one of the online videos of the party show and you will see what I mean. Does anybody here remember the castle having more strobes?

I am pretty sure I remember (as a kid) the strobes on the castle. It made it look like it was sparkling. Maybe it was my imagination though....

I also remember skywritting during the days. In addition, I also thought Space Mountain Seats (back in the mid 80's) were all one seat with no divider.... Hmmm.

Heck, not only do I remember them, but they were responsible for something that used to give me goosebumps (though I only saw it once)... you know at the beginning of Spectromagic, when there's a thunderclap in the soundtrack? They used the strobes to make it "lightning" around the castle. That'll give you a little shiver!

Last I saw the castle at night was early January, but the strobe effect on the castle appeared the same as it has been for many years to me.

However, when the stage in front of the castle was changed for Cinderellabration, the arches installed have multiple strobes along their tops which are now used during the fireworks shows as well. From a distance, this makes it appear that the bottom half of the castle has twice as many strobes as the rest of the castle. That may or may not be what you noticed.

The top half of the castle actually seems to have more strobe lights, or at least they use them more during the shows, than I remember in the distant past.

Everything seemed the same too me but I don't really watch the parades. I go and ride the rides at that time. :animwink:
