Does anyone have any memories of any streetmosphere characters at Disney/MGM? Meaning the characters usually found aroud Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard doing improvisational skits or breaking out into song/dance numbers.

I was just wondering this because I had my first encounter with some of these guys this year at Disney. One was 3 plumbers playing a game where they throw plungers at a board and try to get them to stick. They were really funny. Another was this group of characters doing a show/dance type thing to "Rhapsody in Blue". it was pretty cool.

Last time at MGM, there was a character at a counter service place having argument with another character who was located on the street. It was hilarous!!

I think they changed the name to the Disney studios

They haven't, but with the new Hat Icon and some other changes possible to happen, it may become Disney Studios in a few years (or sooner).

I was wondering this, too. I noticed on the 100 years of Magic vacation planning video, they refer to it as just "Disney Studios" as opposed to earlier videos where it is known as Disney/MGM.

The name is still Disney MGM Studios, but you will often hear and see references to just Disney Studion in promo material... Basically it has to do with copyright/trademark laws and the fact that they only have permission to use the name within Disney property... Watch some of the tapes that has images of the studios on it. You will often see Disney MGM blurred or boxed out...

I love the streetmosphere people! I look for them every time I go. I love when they start quietly and the people close to them are not really sure what it going on. They kind of sneak up on you that way!

Hey, I know of who you speak! He was one of the plumbers I was talking about on my first post. Do they have the same performers come out every day or something?

I know its slightly off-topic, but when I was at AK in Spetember, I was in Coservation Station (I think) and I found myself talking to a remote control dustbin, I must have looked so funny talking to a dust bin, but it really was good. That was fun "street" entertainment.

I think the funniest skit I've ever seen was in April 2000. We were just walking down that street (the main street when you first enter MGM) and one of the guys stopped us & started talking to us. And there was another person in one of the buildings talking down to him from a window. Well, that person in the building's part was over. So, the guy started talking to us. Well, the person in the building was pulling the blinds shut & totally broke it! I guess it was one of those things that you had to be there. But it was SO funny! And we have it all on tape!

That was long! lol, oops!

While waiting for the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, I was sitting across from where they used to show Doug Live. A street performer dressed in a checkered dress and pigtails came up and started talking to the crowd. "Cheer for the characters, boo the villians." Once the parade started, she continued talking to the crowd (on a micraphone) as the parade passed. I could have done without that!!!

Oh my gosh i LOVE the streemospheres! they are so much fun. my mom was a manager of our local disney store, so she would have tons of CMO shirts and stuff from Company D and whenever she wore those shirts she (and members of our family) are always picked to play along with them.
once, i was at the park by my self and i had my mickey antennas on and the cop and the reporter were talking and i became part of their skit because the reporter was asking the cop about the strangest things he had ever seen (ME) it was a lot of fun.
i could keep going with these stories but i won't, but i just have to say that i love the talking garbage cans and the palm tree at AK, they are so much fun!
ok, i'll stop talking now...bye all!
