Strange bus trip????

We had one of these coaches take us to the Magic Kingdom the first night of our last trip. We'd been traveling for 18 hours, we were tired and we jumped on the first bus that arrived. It was just us and 2 other people on the coach... we realised we'd been on the coach quite a long time and it felt like we weren't heading towards the Magic Kingdom but away from it. We thought about the fact that the sign for the Magic Kingdom was on a piece of paper on the front and that the driver wasn't wearing any type of uniform... A bit of a nervous trip but we got there in the end!

Yes! It definitely throws you for a loop. I can imagine being that that tired and having it happen. New ride - Twilight Zone: Bus of Terror :jawdrop:

I've always thought there is room to make the buses more entertaining- perhaps they are upgrading the fleet? For the amount of time guests spend on the buses there is certainly room to improve the experience.

I'm sure that would be nice... but, the buses (regular fleet) are for short duration, quick delivery of people from one place to another within the confines of a city sized area. They are strictly utility and were never meant to be a part of the show. They were always only meant to get you to the show. Like an escalator gets you from one level to another.

It has been fairly well described why those other buses are visible from time to time. No upgrading is happening and I believe I will get struck by lightening at least a dozen times this evening to be more likely then upgrading them. The difference between the cost of the basic transit buses and those super coaches is huge.

I agree that the buses were never intended to be part of the show, but I think this was essentially a mistake.

The monorails and ferries, as well as the other watercraft are clearly part of the show. Things like the ski lift at Blizzard Beach all add to the theme of the environment while transporting guests. Guests unanimously prefer these non-bus transportation types.

While I realise that the buses are designed for utility, I still think they could incorporate more fun into them, things like the transportation cards the drivers carry work well.

Even naming each vehicle after a different character would add slight interest for virtually no cost. Why not make Magic Band touch points on each vehicle for guests to scan in to say they have travelled on that bus. It could incorporate a game for kids to play like Sorcerer's of The Magic Kingdom, where they add the various vehicles they have travelled on that vacation - it could link to My Disney Experience app somehow.

Why not have a character occasionally arrive in a bus as a complete surprise for guests, like at busy times, they could simply get out of the vehicle and greet guests who are waiting at a resort bus stop.

Anything which makes the experience more interesting and memorable would definitely increase guest satisfaction. It wouldn't need to add huge cost.
