Just hopped on a bus from AK to Epcot and this is what we got. Never encountered this before. There was another one headed to MK. Normal? Also note the padlocked bathroom. This may also be my last cry for help.........

Lol!! Best post all day! They must be using some of the old magical express busses for some reason or rented busses. Maybe some are out of commission at the moment.:cyclops:

A few months ago in December last year we took a bright yellow Mears coach from a park back to Port Orleans. Was pretty darn comfy! First time Id ever seen a regular coach being used but I wasn't complaining lol.

They put them (strollers) under the bus - like where you'd put all your luggage...I'm not sure what they would do with a scooter????
They all have handicapped capacity, it's the law, however, a fancy touring couch would not have the entry in an obvious place. It would be well hidden in a side panel, but, if needed it's just a push of a button and it become usable. For years now Disney has contracted with Mears to supply buses for many uses. Some are identified as connected with Disney, like the Magic Express and others are just part of the rest of the Mears fleet and are activated when needed due to demand or special events. It's not at all unusual to see them in use on the property. Padlock restrooms because those are buses that are usually used for long range travel. They are not going to open them up for the short number of miles that they are running on property. Check out the Disney Fleet and rest assured they have no restrooms on them at all.

Same thing happened to us on our first ever trip back in 2008 which completely threw us, we were at Downtown Disney one night and were waiting for a Bus back to Pop Century when some generic no brand charter coach pulled up and told us to hop in, he wasn't in Disney uniform so we were extremely hesitant as all the other buses pulling in were the typical Disney buses, but the few CMs patrolling the area didn't say anything so we got on and everything was fine and we got to Pop but that was the one and only time that happened. Still think it was kinda weird.

We've had these appear more than once. I enjoy the more comfortable seating. Bathroom is locked because theres no need for them being used on short trips from park to park.

That looks like a Mears charter, so I get the locked bathroom. Why is Disney using a charter for park to park transportation? I've always been on a Disney bus.

I had a charter pick me up at Epcot one night...I was the only person on the bus...It was nice and the driver and I had a good conversation on the way back to Pop Century..

I saw a lot of Disney busses at the Mears garage. My guess is the Disney busses are getting some sort of upgrade, and Disney is "renting" Mears coaches while the work is getting done.

Nice. Mears buses are so much nicer than Disney's. Never been a fan of those cold, hard seats when wearing shorts.

I definitely recall that bus interior from our early Magical Express experiences. The buses did have a ME paintjob, though not as elaborate as now, but that was the interior I remember from at least two early trips where we used ME. We used ME right from the beginning.

Yes, they have those nicer buses for the longer rides. Magic Express and the Disney Cruise Line have their own designated buses and they are owned and operated by Mears. When they don't need them for either of those two mentioned things they are called in, on occasion, to help out in the parks. Been that way for years.
