Story of EE

First of all, EE is amazing!!!! Great addition to DAK

I rode EE about 20 times, only 2 in the standby, 1 in fastpass, and the rest single rider. Single rider wait was walk-on to no more than 5 min, with standby at 30-40.

I was wondering is the average guest will understand the story. One would really have to immerse themselves in the queue and I still don't think people will "get" that they are riding old tea trains, and what the whole village was supposed to be.

Not having seen it, I am wondering if that is truly a problem. THe reason I say that is that some of Disney's most lasting rides don't have an outspoken story at all. Now, I would guess the Imagineers might have had something in the back of their minds. However, that is the greatness of it: that people get to figure out their own version. If it looks like there is no story, that could be an issue. But I think it is more like Kali (except better executed) where you find the interactions the more you experience it and try and figure out just what is going on.

That could just be me, though! :p

blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon have backstories -- it bet if you take a pole -- guests call it the snow one and beach one -- and that's all they know..

I'd put big money that average guests do not know or care about the stories. But lucky for us, Disney still cares what WE think otherwise Animal Kingdom would have been Six Flags Kingdom.

I love looking for them but obviously opinions on this site are going to be from average guests.

No, opinions on this site [in general] are NOT from the average guest.

We all know the stories, we all know the history, we care... the average guests doesn't.

Thank God

Otherwise we would be talking about riding Fast Track after doing that thing in the ball. And then watching that fireworks thingy at night.

well dont just blame the AVERAGE guest it is down to disney as well to get the story over easily quickly and enjoyably, do u want to stand in the line and have it explianed to you all about the story of the ride before you go on it? or do u want to have minimal q's moving quickly ,some good themeing to keep you entertained whilst you waitand a good ride?
I think a good ride ride should be a good ride to all people some like the whole background story theming thing others just want to get on the ride and go!

I think the detailed queue is designed to keep people from being bored or getting too impatient when they have to wait. They don't really expect people to dawdle in line if there isn't a line [if you do dawdle, allow those of us in a hurry to "play through" - please ]. Since most are going to get caught in line, they'll get the story eventually.

It is true that most people do not care about the story. They usually do not even know that there is a backstory, unless it is forcably pointed out as on ToT and TT, etc. On rides like HM and BTMRR, most people just get the general theme, and I guess Imagineers thought it was adequite to have the "general theme" experience rather than the "story" experience. They are probably trying to avoid having too many video preshows.

Still, I personally would guess that having guests understand a specific story would enhance their experience and help set Disney apart from the rest even more.
