Stoller warning (not what you think)...

If you are using a stroller at WDW, DO NOT leave anything on it, that you want to keep, if you leave it alone. Alone means parked anywhere you do not have visual sight on it. While we were at WDW last week, many many many people where having things stolen, from the unattended strollers. Remeber the cast members that are near them, do not know the thieves from you. So if someone goes over and takes some items, the cast members are not police.

My cousin was shocked how many people were leaving bags - not just diaper bags but shopping bags - in their parked strollers. I believe his exact quote was, "Wow - if this was New York people would come back to their stroller stripped, up on blocks with the wheels missing".

From one woman we heard, they had their diaper bag and coloring book with crayons taken. I actually say some young kids go over to the strollers and take diaper bags, etc.. but thought, maybe they were retrieving them for mom and dad.

So how many did you see?

In your OP you say many, many, many thefts took place.

Yes it happens - WDW and many other places too. But for the most part I don't see it happening much.

Taking a bag from a stroller is iffy because you don't know what you are taking. Sure you could wait by a stroller parking spot, and then watch for the family to leave. Once you are sure they are well into a queue you could root around in bags and see what you can get. However, unless somone sees you putting something quite valuable in the stroller, they may just end up with a diaper.

People tend to put their guard down on vacation, and especially in WDW. You always need to be vigilant to your surroundings and make precautions as you deem necessary. Thanksfully you don't hear about these things happening too often, but sometimes a theft does occur.

After I heard about the diaper bag theft and noticed young kids (Teens that are 16 or older) taking bags thru the week. I would not see it as a stealing of valuables, but more of a "look how I screwed them over" thing. After all we have a society that thinks doing jacka$$ type things is really really cool. The I powned (not sure if I spelled that right) you stuff is overboard.

I think too many people let their guard down on vacation. Would you (general you, not the OP) leave your diaper bag and other valuables (i.e. your purse) in the shopping cart at the grocery store parked 5 isles over from you for an hour? I would hope most would say no; however, many seem to think that this is okay to do on vacation (wherever vacation may be). Being on vacation does not mean that your common sense may go on vacation too.

I am always amazed at the amount of valuables I see openly left unattended on strollers. it is not uncommon to see bags, cameras, etc. just sitting there.

idiots.

Ive also noticed alot of items getting left unattended. Same with really expensive strollers. I wouldn't take an $800 stroller to disney and leave it alone outside a ride. Anyone can take it. No one would note it as it's not like pictures are taken to prove who owns what. I always take a paint pen and write our last name in several hidden places on our stroller so, if someone took it, we have a leg to stand on when we argue to say it's ours. One great thing for us is that we have a WC in our party so all valuables go on the wheelchair and stay with us.

We did have a spiderman stolen at US. I thought DH picked it up. He thought I had it. Turns out, some other person watched it real well for us *eyeroll*

It's a common-sense thing. There's often no need for articles to be left in strollers--most attractions at Disney theme parks have spaces to accommodate items as large as backpacks (Universal...not so much). Worse, depending on the situation and location, the Guest runs the risk of the item being flagged as an "unattended bag/package" by security...and that's just not a fun process to be a part of on either end. Everything that you need for the day should, ideally, fit into a backpack or small diaper bag. Anything larger really should go in a locker.

We overheard someone talking to Disney security about some stuff that was swiped from their carriage. It's a shame. It really is. :(

HA...I can just picture WDW Security blowing up unattended strollers.

Not to mention anything that is that large that you cant't carry it with but you just had to buy they can send it to the front of the park or your hotel for no charge if your staying on property, don't know how many times I've done with kinds of stuff so I didn't have to carry it around.

Anything you wouldn`t leave on a street at home shouldn`t be left in a stroller. Simple.

Which in my opinion is nothing.

It never ceases to amaze me the things people leave unattended, especially outside attractions such as Nemo when it's clear exactly what time the owners will return, and are often gone for an hour or more

On a leaving things in your stroller note, dont leave any food item out and easily accessible to birds. I was exiting the TTA and saw about 3 or 4 birds in the seat of a stroller pecking at a bag of popcorn and some chips. When the family returned I would assume they had a messy stroller and upset children because their snacks were gone.

This past June my daughter left her Coach purse on top of my sister in laws stroller while we rode Small World. Halfway through the ride she remembered what she had done. When we got off the ride thankfully the purse was just where we had left it. We got lucky. You never know who is lurking.
