Please turn off your caps lock.

The original height requirement for Stitch's Great Escape was 35". It was raised to 38" in January.

Alien Encounter's height requirement was 44", but that closed in October of 2003.

Well, they are carving out a pretty small niche aren't they. I would say that kids between 35 inches and 40 inches were at least willing to be entertained by a ride with no sensible story line. I know they were probably tired of complaints about scaring small kids but this ride seems destined for a maximum 10 minute wait, forever with no re-rideability.

I found the attraction to be boring, lame, and a waste of money. I saw it along with an amazing audience of 7 other people. They can raise the height all they want, it'll still suck until they level it!

Personally, i don't see the point of raising the height on rides which do not have drops/any danger of the passenger being injured. You may have a very short 10 or 11 year old, who may want to ride the ride, but isn't allowed. I think that height restrictions over 38" should only be imposed on coasters/motion rides.

No... the ride is "OK", but that's as far as i would go. It's one of those rides which is greatly anticipated, but then is rushed and spolied.. I think it has the potential to be a great ride but Disney rushed to beat Universal and by doing so, didnt make the ride as good as it could have been...

I haven't even ridden it. I was talking about the technical issues occoring with it (Changing storyline, adding effects, increasing height requirement, missing target audience etc).

Well, that plus my above description makes the ride "ok", if Disney had not fiddled around as much with the technical aspects of the ride and concentrated more on the entertaining aspect(s) of the ride, it would have appealed to much more people than it has...

two questions...why does stich have the over the shoulder restraints? what was in that spot before alien encounter?

To answer your first question, the restraints are there to position the binural sound technology, first used for AE, right at each person's ear level. Since everybody's a different height, the restraints allow for an approximate measure of where somebody's head is. In other words, when the restraints hit your shoulders, the speakers in the headrest are positioned right at your ears. This allows for a show that makes it seems like Stitch is talking in your one ear and then crosses over behind you to speak into your other ear. However, I don't find the effect as convincing as it probably should be for some reason. My guess is you need to have your head resting on the headrest to really get the full effect of the audio effects. This binural sound could also be done with headphones (like used at Sounds Dangerous at MGM) but that would diminish the overall sound effects and audio from the rest of the chamber. The restraints in no way are meant to hold you in place. They can easily be lifted up if you need to get out.

As for your second question, similar restraints were used in AE as well for the exact same reason. The only difference now is thematically the restraints no longer say "X-S Tech" on the front.

I believe the speakers are in the shoulder harness. They are what makes it feel like stitch is breathing down your neck!

I am glad they changed the height requirement. There is nothing worse then being in there with screaming children! I am hoping this will make some parents think about what their children can handle and maybe experiance it or read about it first! I also have seen parents fight with CMs over their small child not being able to sit in their lap. If the children are bigger less chance they will have this problem.

My 6 year old LOVES this attraction...she is a Stitch fanatic. I experiance it many times each trip. Nothing makes it harder to sit through then a screaming child next to you and then a CM member having to come over with a flashlight to calm the child down. Talk about disrupting! Then I have to wait in line and sit through it again so my child can hear it!

thanks CTXRover...i knew there had to be a logical explanation...i remember the first time i experienced AE i thought it was going to be a wild ride because of the restraints...do you know what was there, if anything, before AE...i can't remember

Mission to Mars was located there before AE.

Height restrictions should not be raised because of non-biometric issues! The ride is scary for some, but not inherently dangerous. That is a personal parent/child decision, NOT a height requirement issue. Height predicts emotional maturity about as well as shoe size predicts IQ. Be honest, put signs up saying, that this ride may frighten younger children, but leave it up to parents to decide.

That sounds good except most parent these days are in a word, stupid.
