AE is a great attraction. Here are my two cents on the idea of rehab.

The first time you ENCOUNTER AE, its surprising, thrilling, and to some... scary...BUT the second time, and the third, fourth and so on, I only ride it for tradition/and to see the crowds reaction.

This ride, although great, does not need to be in the MK. It really has no place here. Maybe it should move to FW in Epcot. It couldn't hurt being there, only help. The concept could change a little to a TESTING of a TRANSPORTATION DEVICE, and something goes wrong, then it would fit in FW just fine, and add a little extra to Epcot.

Stitch does deserve his place. There is so much hype over him, although i only opted to watch Lilo and Stitch once, that he is really popular. The concept could stay the same, being set in tomorrowland it would have to, but Have the skippy preshow and then move into the larger, more stitch themed room. Stitch comes in and the laughing begins. The kids would love this! The whole family would if done right. Stitch breaks out of the tube and runs havoc on the theater. He sneezes on you, breathes on you, tickles the back of your leg, and maybe creates a stink. I see nothing but smiles when FAMILIES leave those sensory rides. That is what i think a LOT of people forget when they say, it is an adult ride.
Walt built the MK to be a place where FAMILIES could spend a fun, safe day. I personally think if it is controversial for an entire family to ride (other than height restrictions) that it has no place in the MK. That is why Disney should venture out a little more in their other parks. Add PLENTY of thrills and chills to MGM, it needs 'em. This park BY ITSELF COULD SLAUGHTER Universal, if Disney would just listen to the public. The Magic Kingdom, even if it only had ONE RIDE and that ride was Its A Small World, could hold its own. This park is a park for MAGICAL MOMENTS, keep it magical, thats why its the busiest park. BUT SOUP UP THE OTHERS.... OK, I am off my soapbox.

p.s. - sorry for the long post.

AE would not fit in EPCOT because EPCOT is based off fact, not science fiction. AE is 100% scinece fiction, and fits perfectly in Tomorrowland. It couldn't go in MGM because AE is not based off a movie. OK, about the family stuff, just because The Magic Kingdom is a family park doesn't mean it has to have family rides. You see, the parents can take their youngest child on Peter Pan's flight while the big brother can go on AE by himself. There have to be rides there that appeal to every family member. Some rides for little kids, some rides for big kids, and some rides for the whole family. Sure Stitch does deserve a ride of his own, but not here. Please don't replace AE. I don't think kids would even like a Stitch Encounter, they'd just like to see Stitch, hug him, and say good bye. They wouldn't want him licking them, breating on them, sneezing on them, or touching them all in the dark.

Exactly. If they thought they heard alot of complaints from parents that took their little ones on AE as is now just wait until these things happen on a ride THAT AUTOMATICALLY IS GOING TO BE GEARD TOWARD THE YOUNG ONES. Think about the scared kids from the current AE and mulitply that by about 10. Shoot if parents don't read the warnings about the current show do you honestly think that they are going to read warnings about a Stitch show. I think not.

IMHO, The problem with something like AE that works on fear and shock is that once you have been on it once you know what is going to happen so it isn't scary again. Whenever we go to MK we always bypass AE for this reason, especially when we go in the July and you have the huge queues.
Whereas if AE had Stitch in it, it might be funny instead and things like that keep visitors coming back for more laughs.

True about not being scary. That's just like every ride though. It isn't as fun as the first time mostly. Stitch, I'd like to see it...

AE does have its funny moments.

"As long as the beams are activated the Alien cannot fly out."

( the Alien Flies out )

"Oh dear, the Alien flew out.'

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please listen, don't scream, and the Alien probably won't eat you."

everyone screams

"I TOLD YOU TO BE QUIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I like those moments.

Stitch is a go because cast members that are currently only trained on alien complex are going to all be trained on buzz complex sometime is the near future so that Disney won't be wasting money by paying people for doing nothing.

Just because CMs are getting cross-trained doesn't mean anything. That is normal within themepark operation. It saves money because that way they cut a quarter of the people they need working on two rides. It turns into a three team rotation, whereas before you would need four. Energy, Test Track and Space is all cross-trained. Does that mean that they are getting rid of one of these?

Cross-training doesn't say anything about an attractions future. All it does is that Disney is doing what it can to cut cost.

I think that Disney is redo-ing the Alien Encounter and making it Stitch Encounter because it might want to boost the number of people visiting the attraction, kids, meaning more kids in that area of the park. Just my nickel and a dime.

There's still "It's A Small World". Many people find that hideously scary as well. :)

^^ lol ya man I totally find It's a Small World scary!! heheh...and for AE I think it's a bit disapointing that we would add Stitch to it...it will take away from the scary effect and if they wanted to put Stitch in a ride make a whole new ride!!! But we'll see what it turns out like...

I hated AE the first time I rode it. I thought the room would spin or something with those stupid harnesses. I say the stich rehab is a good thing. I just hope the get rid of the harnesses and make it funny. Personally even as an adult I can ride buzz over and over and over again (in fact we did last time we were there on an e-ride night) we always skip AE it's just not worth standing in a long line for. now there is hope.

I love AE the way it is. And even tho I know what's going to happen it's the fun of it all doing it again. The excitement is still there.. the imagination still works.... it's FUN.

Why go on it's a small world again after the first time then too? You know what's there.. same for Haunted house.. or ANY ride, for that matter. Replace 'em all every year!

If the argument of it has to be a family ride, then not everyone in a family can go on Space Mountain. it can be scary too. So... let's change that too or move it somewhere else. It has NO PLACE in MK. (/sarcasm off)

But if they do change it... i'd hate to see the line "if it isn't done with X-S, then it isn't worth doing at all!"

BTW, if they do add Stitch, I bet it would end up like the Tiki Room. And Disney, please don't make it into Stitch! At least up date AE, but no Stitch. It would be a big mistake.

When we went last April we thought that AE would be too scary for our kids (ages 7&6) and would have loved a Stitch ride. It did leave us with a little less to do in that section.

Maybe Disney could add a sub-room to AE where kids can go on and that room would contain Stitch somehow and still keep the main room the same. So adults can still go on AE while there kids go into the sub room with Stitch.
