Fantasmic-- The large boat at the end is on a track, the rest of precision the rafts are all precision driven and free floating.

I was under the impression that the "watercrafts" in Fantasmic were actually on wheels for safety and maintenance purposes, and the water was only about a foot deep.

On another matter, is the big building behind the trees on your left as you go round adventureland on the WDW rail road the maintainence shed for the trains?

That is the SHOW building for PotC.
Train maintenance is on the north side with the Mono shead

I read about the thing they use in Tower of Terror, where the elevators move out of the shafts self-propelled, but are guided along by that thing you are talking about
