Staying Onsite Is Magic.

Good Morning All. Yesterday I met friends who have just returned from Florida. A family of four who decided to stay offsite on I-Drive. They had a great time but confessed they wish they had stayed onsite instead of offsite. Each morning by the time they got up,had breakfast, drove to WDW,it was mobbed. And by tea time getting back to their hotel they were so pooped they couldn't be bothered to drive back to the parks. She asked me what were the advantages of staying onsite.I rattled off about twenty, but thinking if I were to choose just one,the most important thing about staying onsite,it would have to be the complete immersion of Disney itself. So it's probably been discussed here many times, but what is your number one reason for staying onsite?:)

I agree with staying inside the magic bubble. I love the fact that I do not have to drive anywhere, just jump on transportation and go. Plus the theming of the whole place. Thats why its called Walt Disney World. Its another world from reality.

Never stayed off site... never considered doing so. Besides all the reasons stated above, at the end of the looong day in the parks, completely bushed, the last thing I would want to do is drive somewhere. Let the bus drivers do the driving, unload me at the resort bus stop. I can manage to trek the last 1/4 mile to either my room or the resort food court for some end of the day refreshment. I don't want to see a car key until I return home.

my stance is if you can afford to, try and stay on property. It is less hassle for me at least because they have buses and i feel safe because i am familiar with it and where everything is located. However, you will get the disney magic where ever you stay. I am blessed i can afford to stay on property, but know for some its just not in the cards. disney parks bring memories that will last forever, so no matter where you stay, its the same for everybody

The only time we ever leave property is to head to Discovery Cove and have our dolphin swim. I know you can do this at EPCOT, but it does not come close to the experience at Discovery Cove. Then we immediately head back to the waiting arms of the princesses.

As I just said over in another thread, I hate driving, so the WDW Transportation (even with the occasional delay,) is still a plus to me. I also love things like Magical Express which require me to do very little pre-work -- I don't have to book anything complicated, or worry about timing it all just right with my flight, or hope that the transportation company is reputable -- all I have to do is tell WDW my flight numbers and show up.

And of course, the overall feel of the place. I'm sure part of my attachment to WDW resorts stems from the fact that we always stayed in them when I was a kid, so a lot of them have many years of happy memories from my life adding to the good vibes.

I stayed off site for every single trip until 2010. I credit a horrible bus transport situation with the Radisson for making me say NEVER AGAIN! :D

My #1 reason to stay onsite is convenience. Time is $ and I waste a whole lot less time in transit if I'm not staying onsite. I'd never dream of nap time, rest time, afternoon pool breaks, etc. if I stayed offsite...but onsite, I can do all of this with relative ease and feel way more relaxed too.

Being inside the Disney bubble the whole time is another huge factor. I always used to get upset every time we'd exit the property- wondering aloud to my parents why we just didn't stay onsite. Well, now I don't have to leave until that horrible little envelope appears on my door!

DME is a HUGE perk if I'm flying, we loved TS so 180+10 is BIG, but the biggest perk outside of convenience and the bubble...EMH. If my tickets or passes cost the same as everyone else's, why would I stay offsite and miss out on those extra hours? I know not everyone does EMH, but we do and I am thankful for the extra 14 or so park hours I've used so far b/c of EMH.

We need time for things to happen.
Staying inside the magic bubble is reason #1. Keeping the feeling in, having the full feeling of escape and immersion.
I enjoy living inside bubbles where the "real" world can't get in. The one where I'm good looking and people like me is one, but it doesn't compare to the bubble in central Florida where I get to live for one week out of the year -----Yup love me that magical WDW bubble.

I agree with everyone, when we finally get to WDW I want the whole experience. I deal with enough reality I want my one week of fantasy. I want restaurants and music and all those tiny details that Disney is so good at. That drive through the main gates, total happiness!!!

I completely agree ... We stayed off site once .... ONCE, and although the hotel was very nice, I hated it and 2 days into our 11 day vacation was able to go to the Polynesian (and pay one heck of a rack rate but, hey... its the Polynesian!!) Between not having to drive and quoting Sue's reasons to a T, for us, it really does add to that *disney* feel.
