Just womdered what is the best transport option and route from the dolphin hotel to magic kingdom, dtd, animal kingdom and the two water parks. I have heard that epcot and Hollywood studios are a short walk away or a short ferry ride but unsure about the other places. This will be our first trip and we are very excited but nervous too as its going to be new for us. Thank you xx

If you have a car, then the fastest transportation to DTD, Disney's Animal Kingdom (DAK), and the two water parks will be via car. (Make sure you study the maps before you arrive so you don't get lost. WDW is a big place.) Otherwise, just take Disney's buses.
For the Magic Kingdom (MK), it's usually better to take one of Disney's buses.
As you note, for both DHS and Epcot, simply walk or take the boat.
The Dolphin is one of 5 hotels located on Crescent Lake. IMHO, the area is the most beautiful in all of WDW.

I would take the boat to and from DHS as your resort is the first stop coming and going. I would just walk to Epcot, as you have two other stops between your resort and there. You can probably beat the boat walking at a decent rate.
I favor buses to the MK, as you are dropped up front and do not have to transfer at the TTC.
If you will have a car, you could go bus or car to AK. We have done both with equal success.
Dtd and the water parks' bus service used to have a reputation as being inconsistent. For this reason, we have always driven to and from these places. I have not really monitored there effectiveness recently.

September is the best time to go! Halloween decorations, warm weather, lower crowds. Have a great trip!
