Staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort

Hi,
We will be staying in the CBR from August 9-14 of this year... I've heard some pretty bad things concerning the CBR upon reading some reviews, but I've also read really good things too... I'm just wondering if the recent refurb that has been mentioned was after 2000? That seems to be where some of the bad reviews come from. I'm traveling with two first timers and just want everything to yell "DISNEY MAGIC"... you know...

We have stayed there twice and liked it both times. We do rent a car though and don't use Disney transportation since the resort is so spread out. My mother, sister, niece and nephew will be there in September. We're over at Ft. Wilderness in a cabin this time.

I thought CBR was nice. Rooms were nice and they were clean. CM's were always nice too. Depending on where you are, after a long day at the park, the last thing you want to do is walk a distance to get to your room.

We stayed at Caribbean Beach in April of 2006 and we really liked it. The theming is fantastic and it really is a beautiful place. We stayed in Aruba. My only complaints are the large and confusing layout and the substandard bus service. On several occasions we had to wait 30 minutes or longer on a bus and on a couple of those occasions I had to use the phones that they have at the bus stops to call Disney transportation(i think?)and let them know that there was a large number of us waiting on a bus. Also, it seemed to take forever to walk from our room in Aruba to Port Royal but it wasn't a big deal since the walk there was so beautiful. I also loved the towel animals that mousekeeping left on our pillows.

Try to request a room close to Port Royal and it will make your stay alot easier. I think you will really enjoy it just keep in mind that it is a massive resort and getting around can be a chore, and depending on which village you end up staying in you could have a loooong bus ride back to your room at the end of the night. By the way, I love your signature.

This is true only if you are planning on several trips to the food court per day.

If you're not heavily into the food court or the themed pool, you will be fine at any island.

At CBR, I request a room close to the bus stop.
There are internal busses to get you to Old Port Royale if you need them.
