I know this thread has come up before, but I don't recall getting a definite answer on this.

And I called Disney, but you can't tell sometimes with the answer that you get, so I figured I'd ask the real experts - You guys!

I'm going in September, staying for 3 nights at All Star Movies and 5 nights at Old Key West.

My main concern was (since we are not renting a car) getting the luggage from All Stars to Old Key West.

Is it true that if you let the front desk know the night before you check out that you will be going to another Disney Resort, that they will have your luggage taken right to your new resort? And then, you can head out for the parks from the first resort, and go to the next resort at the end of the day, check in, and get your luggage?

Yes, they sure do.

It's not instant - usually takes a couple of hours - but if you are going out to the parks you won't mind at all.

Yep! No worries. You might consider placing a nice sized tip on top of your packed luggage as you head out to the parks in the morning as I think this service is quite invaluable. For future trips, keep in mind that they will also do this for room changes within the same resort as well in case you need to move to a different room to take advantage of discounts or decide to add a night or two once you are already down at WDW.

What great info!!!! I never knew this! Thanks!!! Even if you have a car, it is a major pain to lug everything down (b/c you KNOW your car is a million miles from your room) and then TRY to squeeze everything in. This will come in handy for our next trip. My daughter is begging to stay at The Boardwalk and I want to stay at the WL. So, we will probably just be splitting the time between the two.

one point that should be made for the benefit of those who DO drive down and will be in more than one resort: They do not as a matter of course deliver your luggage to the second resort if you have a car.

In April, I checked into Fort Wilderness Cabins for one night, told them I would be at Coronado Springs for the rest of the trip and told them I had heard the luggage could be taken over. They asked if I had a car, I said I did, and they said I'd have to take my own luggage over.

SO, just be forewarned about this if you drive.

Oh! That sucks!!! If they offer it to some guests, they should offer it to all! I'd have to complain LOUDLY about that.

Perhaps this is just a policy of the cabins because we always drive and almost always stay at a moderate hotel for the first night and then transfer to a deluxe for the remainder and have never been asked if we have a car or been refused this service. Now, mind you, it isn't speedy, we usually wait for our luggage until early evening but it is worth it!!

Last October I got a little nutty and stayed at THREE different resorts in 10 days. On the morning of checkout at each hotel, I just walked out to the luggage storage/bell stand area and they were happy to take it and have it sent over. I tipped, of course. No preliminary planning required. It was great! Later, after arriving at the new hotel, I just called down to the bell stand and they delivered it right to the room (which I had to be present for or they wouldn't bring it - also requiring another tip, though its worth it).

The only drag to all the resort hopping was the packing and unpacking. At the first resort, I thought I would just not unpack and live out of the suitcase, but that was a drag. Just didn't feel homey. Also, staying at three resorts was definitely overkill, as I never felt like I had really arrived. Just kept packing and unpacking. Two resorts at most seems like a good idea.

Yep. Just have it packed up ready to go or bring it down to luggage assistance (All-Stars and Pop) or Bell Services (everywhere else) by around 9-10 am.

All transfers from each resort get done around noon-2 pm depending on how many bags, resorts, staffing, etc.

As far as tipping if not in the room, place money under a suitcase or between two if you have a small bag on top of a big suitcase. Don't just leave it sitting on the table. Housekeeping has been known to take tips that are meant for luggage assistance/bell services.
