This email was received today in our offices. I don't know how much water this holds but now a days you never know and I felt I should pass this on to you.

We here in Minnesota usually have thousands of children trick or treating in the Mall of America on Halloween. The Mall of America BTW, is located right across interstate 494 from the airport.

Please read the e-mail below. Especially since, in Minneapolis, you have
one of the more famous malls. The woman referred to in the e-mail who dated
a guy from Afghanistan is a friend of someone who works with my wife.

OK, here you go......this could be a hoax but I'm going to pass it on
anyway
because I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened to my
loved ones and I didn't pass it on.....

no, no, no. it's true. only it's before, during and after halloween. boy, it was sure tough to have to tell my wife about that. it just breaks my heart that we can't go the mall. ever.

i understand the only safe places these days are local taverns and bowling alleys because, um, you can use pool sticks, darts and shot glasses as counterterrorism weapons.

what're you gonna protect yourself with at a mall? fake trees? oh, that's right, malls have security guards. i always feel safe around mall security guards. :D

Well, after all, their motto is to serve and protect, right? Serve and protect what is a totally different thing. :hammer:

DF, I don't know if the e-mail is a hoax or not, but it has all of the earmarks. I would ask your wife to pin down the exact source ...can she personally identify the recipient of the letter? I mean more than so & so's friend...I've done that, and discovered that the person(friend of a friend) I traced was still not the original, but knew someone who knew the person, if you know what I mean. This is not to imply in any way that your wife is being naive...I would be concerned, also! It's just that people tend to get upset if you question something that someone they trust has passed along to them.

I would assume that if it is true, the authorities would just close the mall, or increase security. Why a mall? Wouldn't it be easier to attack a football game, or maybe Macy's parade? The targets are endless...I refuse to stay home until this is over, which might be the rest of my life!

Thanks, mighty! I didn't notice that WDW-I's post contained a link.

I'm very familiar with the snopes site...if WDW-I thinks we flame him, don't even THINK about posting in their forum!!! (the Urban Legends discussion group)

I didn't either at first, but in my restless search for interactivity, I wiggled my mouse over it and clicked because it was underlined--it was a link! :) ;)

LOL...Okay then, I'll stay out of there....

Thanx for the link....it is too early to dismiss anything...I live in Miami, really far south next to an Air Force Base and a nuclear power plant. 24-7 there are fighter planes in the air and circling...it is almost eeire....alot of army personel in the area and I am appreciative. Just thought I would tell you that....not to mention all that anthrax started in this state...these people have alot of nerve to use one of the best states to 'hang out'!!!!
