Stay at Contemporary?

I'm attending a conference at the Contemporary Resort during the first week of November. It is it worth booking at the discount rate of $195 or should we consider another resort. I'm bringing the family (seven and two-year old). The company will pay for every night except the two extra nights we are staying.

I've stayed at value, moderate, and deluxe resorts in the past but never at the Contemporary.

Opinions?

I am so glad you booked. We stayed there last December in a refurbed room and it was beautiful. Having the monorail right there was an additional +++. My kids were 8 and 13 and we STILL stayed at MK most of the time. The only down side to it is that it is not nearly as themed as some of the other resorts, but it is comparable to any Renaissance etc. we have stayed at. Have a wonderful trip!

I would stay there. I've been to the CR nearly every week to take pics for my own site - there is construction going on in a number of places. The lobby is being redone, there is a store going in on the 4th floor, and the Food Center on the 1st floor will soon be replaced by a temporary fast-food area on the 4th floor. Plus there is DVC construction out the side, but that hasn't been noisy ever when I've been.

I'd still stay, I like the resort a lot (even if I'm not thrilled with the store going in the Grand Canyon Concourse)

They had construction on my floor last year when I stayed there and we didn't hear any noise at all. I slept like a baby and when we woke up they were working out in the hall by the elevators...:snore:

Does anyone know if all the rooms at the Contemporary have been refurbed, or are they still in progress? I'm waiting on a quote from Pam for a December trip, possibly in the Garden wing. I'd like to do tower lake view, but it's all going to depend on pricing. From the pictures of the new rooms I've seen, I'd really like one of those.

Well since you will only have to foot the bill for 2 nights I would say go for it. And if I understand your post correctly, you will be staying there anyway for your confrence, so why check out and move to another resort? Too much time wasted. Also the rooms look great since the rehab.

:)

The construction on the 4th floor store was pretty noisy when I was there last week (it's right in the center of the councourse). But that was during the day, so I am not sure it's a big deal. They also had the escalators and stairs next to them blocked. It's definitely a bit of a construction zone all over, but I'd still stay there if it was convenient to a convention (or if I ever planned to spend $200 on a room at Disney, which is an occasional occurance only).

Well it all worked out for us. I'm writing this from my room at the Contemporary. We were granted our request for a tower room. The kids enjoy the water parade every night and the ten minute walk to the Magic Kingdom is a big plus.

The construction is not too disturbing. Although one morning there was construction on the DVC tower at 3:00 am.

Though I got to stay at the Contemporary for the amazing price of $65 a night...Thanks to Shades of Green being redone. I would happily stay there again for $195. With two small kids, there is something to be said about being able to walk out of your hotel and walk over to the MK. When we did this, we actually beat the monorail that was entering the hotel as we were leaving the lobby door. Trouble getting someone to sleep...how about a nice monorail ride in the front cab. Very relaxing and a different way to see the resort. I love Chef Mickey as well.
