Is the Carousel of Progress operating this summer? There were rumors that WDW would love to demolish this wonderful old attraction, like the World of Motion, People Mover, Submarine Voyage and several others. The COP has undergone many renovations over the years and I visited it on the very first day it opened to the public at the NY World's Fair in 1964 and visited it over 50 times. I look forward to re-visiting.

The answer without sarcasm is: its running. It needs a full refurb. It is not being torn down, nor remodeled. It has been doing huge business this summer and they've even been running it later hours than usual.

It's definitely running, but the problems are piling up. The big things I noticed were the curtains hiding the sides of the stage were nearly transparent (as they have been for years now), the water pump wasn't pumping anything, Rover's barks sounded like they were coming from behind the stage, and the timing of the lights for the "rumpus room" is very off. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, even in its disheveled state at the moment. It'd be very bad if Disney closed it for good...

I rode it this afternoon. It definitely needs a full refurb but the theater I was in was almost completely full.

The curtains on the sides are still transparent. Some of the audio cues did not play on time. (Ex. Rover's barking was delayed in scenes 2 and 3.) The water pump is not working. That's just the beginning. I could go on for a while about everything I saw that was wrong.

Unless there is some recent news of which I am unaware, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is still operating. Rocket Tower Plaza went through a bit of a refurb last year, and the TTA was walled off for a few weeks, but it went back into A-mode in August.

Actually have a friend who works inside of CoP as a lead. They have been having alot of meetings with higher ups. All I know is the Epcot will not be recieving CoP and will be staying there till atleast the 50th aniversary. CoP has been given money to refurb. Not sure when this will be happening.
CoP is one of my favorites. Really looking forward to a refurb.

As you know, the appliance division of GE (General Electric) was the sponsor of CoP at the 1964 World's Fair and later when it moved to Disney parks (Disneyland and then WDW). Unfortunately, after ten years at the MK, GE dropped their sponsorship of CoP in 1985. Without a sponsor the attraction has steadily fallen apart over many years.

But there is a new hope! The GE appliance division was sold to Electrolux last year. Electrolux is a Swedish company but they will still use the GE name on their appliances made in their Louisville, Kentucky plant. When they do the refurbishment, they most likely will have the Swedish Chef in the kitchen demonstrating the GE appliances while Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker show us all about the wonders of electricity.

I love this attraction; It is emotional.I took his song version tomorroland loop in the mobile. Besides that from a practical point of view, it is that when I go in late August ... is a perfect place to relax;)

apologies, was trying to be funny and obviously missed the mark. I love COP as much as the next guy - the attraction needs some SERIOUS love though, I visited in February and was shocked at how many effects are no longer working or working properly.

Somethings are pretty obvious, like the statement that "Epcot will not be receiving CoP". There is fantasy and there is FANTASY, and the thought that this was even a mild possibility is purely the latter. It's been all that they can do to keep it at all, much less spend millions to move it. I'm afraid that once CoP is gone, it will be gone forever.
