Status/future of the Hyperion

Yeah that’s another thing that makes no sense. Why the heck are they calling the disjointed pieces of land on the other side of a Disneyland “a third gate.”
As I mentioned in the post, I think its wishful thinking on their part. I don't think we have had any indication from Disney that they plan or even have thoughts to build that as a 3rd gate. As much as I know its hard to hear to most here, I think Disney has given up the idea of a 3rd gate in Anaheim, rather just to expand what the 2 they have.

This would be a really awkward layout for a theme park but it would solve the issue of having to get guests over DL Drive. The narrow passage between the DL hotel and new DTD security entrance poses an interesting challenge for creating a theme park corridor between both sides. Skyway?

I haven’t given up on the idea of a third gate at Toy Story but what MC is saying seems crazy.

This is why I think if that happen they would put the hotels inside the security bubble, but I don't want to start that whole debate again.

Even if they go in the bubble it’ll still be an awkward layout and you’d still need to have gates around the hotels and DTD.

True all those theme park view rooms in nearly every tower now would go for $1300 a night.
Lots of Stonk right there. lol

Plus I'd imagine they building another couple towers, man they'd be rolling it in.

On second thought maybe MC isn't that crazy on this point after all. 🤔

The carousel is actually being used, just in the worst way imaginable. So I can see why it’s dead to you.

The upstairs is being used; the former General Electric post-show exhibit space, and later the Superspeed Tunnel, and then later the General Motors and AT&T and Kaiser Permanente showroom space.

But the Carousel Theater itself on the first floor is sitting there abandoned. Again. :(

None of the plans for the 70th have even been released yet. So we don't know what they have planned yet for entertainment.

So.... nothing then for the Hyperion or Fantasyland Theater?

The 70th starts in five or six months. There's not a rumor or a peep or a whisper about a rumor about anything.

I'll take that as... nothing is happening at either venue.

Nothing has been announced yet for the 70th, nothing, only the logo. And if we use the 60th as a basis, they won't announce anything until January.

Also the assumption is that it'll start around the same time as the 60th did which was the end of May, so 7.5 months away.

So plenty of time for them to plan, hire, and train a new cast for a show at either venue if that is what is happening. So we'll just have to wait and see what they announced, again likely in January.

Wasn't this a similar layout for that awkward 3rd park that was unofficially official at TDR? Before Fantasy Springs took a large chunk of that slot? Just saying it's something that's Disney's considered before.

If that was ever an actual thing - I could be wrong.

Another reason to suspect Westcot is because they didn’t turn the Carousel into JII like they should’ve.

Would make more sense to tear down the Disneyland hotel, build a new one, and integrate it as the entrance to the park ala Paris or TDS.
