Star Wars weekends

Does anyone know when the Star Wars weekends are usually held? I am hoping there will be one in 2005 when I visit The World as hopefully this will include characters from Episode 3 which is released in May 2005.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think usually May into June is when they have them, so you may see a larger event this coming year in celebration of the new movie. I know I already ordered my Revenge of the Sith T-shirt. Should be arriving any day now.

I've been to a few Star Wars Weekends. They are in May, sometimes stretching into June. Now if I remember correctly when a new movie comes out, like when Episode 2 came out, they don't have the Star Wars Weekends that year because Lucasfilm is focusing on a larger Celebration elsewhere in the country. I might be wrong, I should dig out one of my old issues of Star Wars Insider and check but I remember reading that somewhere.

I know i had inquired here earlier in the year as to when they were going to be held and who was gonna be there (for 2004)...unfortunately i had a number of responses saying there would not be any for 2005 because of Revenge of the Sith coming out which to me makes no sense because it would probably bring more people out but that is upto Lucas and Disney. If you go in 2006 i would be there during that time because it was awesome this year. There were stormtroopers on top of the enterances to the park and a lot characters out for pictures and much more.

Normally they do not have SWW when a new movie comes out. but Disney has mentioned on their web site that it will be in May 2005. no specific dates yet though. :)

They had the same thing back in 2001 (I think.....maybe 2000). It was really great. The ones on the roof of the entrance to MGM were hilarious! They were picking on people waiting to get in. My husband is a huge Star Wars fan so it got him more in the Disney Spirit. He's not as "into Disney" as my daughter and I are, but this certainly helped.

I was there this year for the Star Wars weekends. Not really that big of a deal to me but it's still cool to see other characters from the newer movies.

Also, a friend of ours here on the boards played Chewbacca. :animwink: (Miss ya, Joshy. Come back.)

We've been to WDW twice, both times happened to be during Star Wars Weekends. The first one was May 2000, and we got to MGM before opening. There were a lot of characters around, great photos etc. The park seemed extra busy to us, compared to attendance that same week at the other parks. It was pretty neat, but not something I would plan my trip around.

Our last visit was June 2004 and we caught the last Star Wars weekend of the year. We didn't get to MGM before opening, so it seemed to us that there were fewer characters. There may have been as many, but since we didn't see them all in one area at the beginning it seemed like less. The stars that were there both weekends we were there were not well known so that part of it was not a big deal. What we wanted was the Mickey plush dressed as a Jedi, but we were told that sold out the first weekend. I wish they had more in the way of limited items, such as limited figures sold only at the weekends, but that they could be released every weekend so everyone gets a chance at them. (ie if they had 5000 of them and 5 weekends, releasing 1000 per weekend).
