Star Wars Weekends reduced to one?

I agree - I think a few people tend to over analyze things - thus ______________ all the fun out of ...well, just about everything :)

Mr. Promey...

out of all the parks, Disney's have been hurt the least
...could you provide a link to the source of this data? Everything I have heard and read suggests the opposite; that Disney is faring significantly worse than its competitors, both in Orlando and California.

USA Today article

USA Today article

The article that I got my information from was from a local paper(www.tampabay.com). I'm pretty sure the article is no longer on their website (if it ever was at all) but if I still have the hard copy, I'll be happy to post it in it's entirety. Without having it with me at work, I can say that their article had more to do with actual bottom line profit than with attendance. They sited the fact that Disney has not made quite the same drastic cuts in special ticket prices that other local parks have been offering in recent years as well as the reduced operating hours of the parks and cutbacks in staff as cost saving measures that allowed them to scale back operations. While the article you referenced addressed the issue of WDW's financial records, I noticed that they did not address them for the local competition that they are compared to. I'm not trying to say that the article you provided was in any way biased since the article was primarily about Disney, it just was perhaps not complete in the manner that you are referencing it. My article did not make any reference to Disney's operations in California just as yours did not, so I cannot comment on that.

...the USA Today article does mention that attendance at Universal's California park was up 25%, but you're right, it's not as clean a comparison.

See, that's what scares me. Does the ability to cut costs faster than people stop buying really mean you're in good shape, as a company?

Sorry about the lack of Star Wars content in the last couple posts... I think I'm posting in this thread too quickly after posting in the other one...
