Star Wars Weekends and crowd levels

We have done SWW multiple times. This year we will hit it two weekends. We are always at the gate at least an hour before opening. Generally the open the gates a little bit early. Get your spot for the parade early. We do find that other attractions tend to have lower lines because everyone is doing photos and all the Star Wars Stuff.

Our trip is planned the week of May 12th (before the first SSW). Do you guys think the crowd levels should be all right at most of the other parks that week or do the Jedi's descend upon WDW early on? I'm thinking I made a mistake booking for that week before SSW Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Star Wars but I don't love crowds at Epcot and MK so there's my problem. Yikes

Does SSW start at some specific time on that Friday or just at park opening?

This will bet first time at SWW but from what I have read it starts at park open with Storm the Park, the motorcade parade is around 11, and there are panels and M&Gs throughout the day. We are actually just going for rope drop until about 1.

We've gone a couple of times in June and it's our preferred (non-school) month. In fact, one year my kids got to battle Darth Vader! Anyway, I don't recall noticing it being more crowded than usual. I think July is worse. Brazilians bring more people to the parks than Star Wars.

I recommend doing SWW on a Friday if at all possible. Also, if you are going by car make sure to use the entrance off of World Drive, not the entrance over by the Boardwalk and Hess Station. That second one gets backed up big time.
