Star Wars Weekend

Hi all,

Considering a trip May 21-28 with the family. We'd we staying at the beach club. My main question is, what types of crowds can I expect for this time frame? Obviously DHS will be packed, but will it affect everywhere else? Will it be so crowded that ill have trouble getting a table at the pool "crowded?"

I should mention that everyone attending is an adult and we've all stayed at the beach club 20ish+ times, but we've never visited during a Star Wars weekend. I checked out easywdw, and he anticipates a higher crowd level during the weekend obviously. I was just looking to get some further info from the wdwmagic community on what to expect, or if I should plan on another time.

Thanks.

Going the same time period, from the 22-29th. We are expecting the biggest crowds on Sunday and Monday because of memorial day. I have heard from others that the week before (the 21st-the 24th) isn't bad at all.

We are really torn on when to do DHS. We can either go on saturday and see Star Wars Weekends(not big star wars people but it seems interesting) or on the Tuesday after memorial day.

I would also be interested to hear others take on the end of May I have heard very mixed things from the crowds are nothing to the crowds are in full summer mode.

Haha yes, we are not big Star Wars people either. I was figuring that we'll do all the must do stuff in the parks (especially DHS) early in the week before it gets too crazy.

We'll be right behind you at the BC starting June 2! I generally hear good things about late May in terms of crowds because most kids aren't out of school yet. However, I would expect pretty heavy crowds during the Memorial Day weekend. We're also going to try SWW for the first time and are still trying to decide which day to go.

Good to know. We usually visit between October- March, so I have no idea what to expect. We did go in the middle of August one time... Lets just say we won't be making that mistake again haha. I think I still have the sunburn to show for it.

Us too, we are probably booking this Wednesday for the 22-28...figure this late in the game the school won't have time to send another nasty letter out on the kids missing too many days... We are use to high crowd levels when we go though since we tend to go over the summer and also on holidays...

I'm one of those crazy people who wants to go during Star Wars weekends. Some day...I'm going to college next year and will be off...need to find someone to go with me for the weekend.

If you've stayed at Beach Club, you know the drill. Get down there when it opens, don't shove try to get a table. I can't imagine it would be any worse than June-August. If you want to do DHS without the Star Wars (which why would you!?) you can go middle of the week and it should be better. The good thing is that a lot of kids will still be in school, so this should help with crowd control. I'd say do Epcot on the Saturday, AK on Sunday if you were planning on going over there (we find that no matter the time of year, Sunday is the least crowded at AK), or spend the day by the pool. Most of the crowds should be in Studios or MK (though you could probably do Extra Magic Hours at MK for the evening and it would be fine.) Memorial day I would spend by the pool and then go to Epcot or Downtown Disney, or do Animal Kingdom. AK is a good park for high crowd days, as is Epcot. The rest of the week most of the young population should be in school (except for Seniors and college students) so you should be fine.

Great post. Star Wars girl!!?? I had no idea you wanted to go during these weekends!! hahaha.

Yes, I think that is an ideal itinerary. Really appreciate the help. I guess Im worried about nothing overall. I just figured Star Wars + MDW = massive crowds.

Star Wars weekends bring in some fans, but it doesn't generate enormously huge crowds -- the star wars photo opportunities and things are spread throughout the entire park, and while weekends will be busier than other days, its just not a "huge crowd" thing....
