Star Wars Weekend Trip

Hi,

After the great trip we had in January I am planning a surprise trip for one of the Star Wars weekends in June (6/3, 6/4 and 6/5). My son is 7 and has become a huge fan. I plan on heading to the airport that Friday and surprising him with a “guys” only weekend. I am going low cost so we will probably stay at POP Century. I was looking for any tips from those of you that have been to Star Wars weekend in the past.

Star Wars at MGM will be selected weekends in May and June. I looked on 2/9 and the dates were not posted yet. Check in advance to ensure they are having it that weekend. I haven't been there so I can't offer any tips. I will be there the end of May and hope to enjoy festivity.

Star Wars Weekends will be running that weekend. Sounds like it's going to be a great trip for your son! Be sure to say "hi" to my friend, Chewbacca!

We were there many years ago with two (then small) children. Don't know if they still have it, but they ran a "Jedi Knight Training Camp" which was a blast. Both kids got selected (NOTE: JUMP UP AND DOWN A LOT) and they got to meet the REAL DARTH VADER. Not to be missed.

Thanks for the tip on Jedi Camp. My son was picked for the Sword in the Stone Ceremony so this would be another great memory.

This will be my first Star Wars Weekend this year. I am going the weekend of June 3-6. I can't wait! What a great way to bring in Episode III!! I hope your son gets picked for the Jedi Camp. I want to take my friends kids so that they could maybe do that. The youngest son said he would fight Darth Maul "as long as his lightsaber isn't real, cuz I will be sliced in half!"

I have a question do the Star Wars events run Friday-Sunday or just Saturday and Sunday? I was hoping to sneak in the Magic Kingdom on Friday.

Don't want to get anyting started but to the father above, The Star Wars weekend is not the only "weekend " event talking place at that time. But you will have to do your own research, I ain't gettin' into it.

Bandman,
Thank you for the info. My wife and I will have to talk this one over, but looking at the schedule for the event you are talking about I don't think I'll have any issues. I am planning a mostly MGM trip with maybve a trip Epcot.
Thanks again,at least I won't be caught off guard like we were in D.C a couple of years ago.

Star Wars weekends will be the last two weekends in and the first two in June. A guest list has not been released as of yet. If Disney does these weekends like the have done in the past they will have 2 Star Wars celebrities there each weekend that will do a Q and A session and will sign autographs. Don’t expect any huge Star Wars celebrities Like Mark Hammel, George Lucas, or Harrison Ford but chances are you might be able to see Peter Mahew (Chewie) Carrie Fisher, and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok). If you are interested in autographs you must get there before the park opens and get a fast pass for it. You can not get an autograph without one and they go quick. Star Wars characters are all over the area around Star Tours. Your son will have photo opportunities with Storm Troopers, Vader, Mace Windu, etc. Even Mickey is wearing his Jedi robes. Your son will definitely want to do the “Obi-Wannabe” Jedi tanning. You might also want to check out Episode 3 at the AMC theaters at DTD. They use a digital projector system so the version of the movie will be the most updated version. If there is anything else you would like to know just pm me and I’ll help you anyway I can.

I don’t think you will have any problem with the aforementioned event. Most of the participants seem to go to MK and it is nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be.

Thanks for info Master Yoda. I think we are going to stick with the original dates. MGM should be fairly tame and my schedule at work doesn't leave me the flexibility of another weekend. As soon as I book the flights I'll have Pam book the rest.
