Star Wars Weekend Panic

So not only am I stressed about our first June trip ever, now I find out the weekend that is in the middle of our trip the last Star Wars Weekend. I honestly don't know much about these events, and we've never been when any were schedule.

How much does this affect crowds, both in HS and across WDW? Do we need to avoid HS at any cost, because we're not really into Star Wars? Are they only one day or both days? And since this will be the last one, will it be the most crowded?

Any advice would be appreciated! We're going from June 6th to June 13th. Please help!

No need to stress out about it. We go in June and the only impact it has is that during SWW, DHS is more crowded. I am a huge Star Wars fan, but we typically avoid DHS because of SWW too. The other parks are no more crowded than your usual June day.

Honestly, no need to stress. The major attraction during these events are the FastPasses associated with meet and greets with actors from the series. There is a special parade as well, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. There are also a great number of fans who comes dressed up, which I always thought was against Disney policy. There is some increased foot traffic but it is honestly not all that bad. I went in May 2010.

As others have said, don't panic about it. The Star Wars Weekends encompass Friday, Saturday and Sunday of those particular weekends.

Those Guests that go to DHS because of the Weekends go specifically for the SWW special events. The only things they affect are more-crowded walkways and busier restaurants. Lines at all rides other than Star Tours are about the same they would be at that time of year without SWW.

Crowds at other parks are not affected at all.

Star Wars Weekends are not a big deal - don't stress out. I've been - I love Star Wars - people go and wait in line for characters and shows. DHS might be slightly busier - but it's not a reason to not visit the park. Utilize the Fastpass option and you'll be fine!

This will be our fourth trip but 1st time to go in June and to attend SWW. We are all excited as my DH and DS are huge SW fans. Our goal for that day is to do what we can and watch the parade. We set aside another day during the week to go back to HS. I'm sure that will be when we get most of our riding in.

My best advice for you is to have a great time. There will be a lot of people there but they will be there to get autographs and SW/Disney merchandise. If you aren't doing either of those, it shouldn't affect you in the least. I'd go to every single SW Weekend if I could. Heck, I'd sooner be at WDW rather than anywhere else anyway. Have a fun trip!

I went to each SW Weekend last year and as most have stated, the Star Wars specific events will have the most crowds in DHS. There are so many SW related events going on during the day that will keep most fans busy. If you do end up going to DHS on a SWW day, I highly recommend the Hyperspace Hooplah. Its a fun, high energy show that is a great way to close out the day! I loved it so much year, that I ended up going all four weekends just to see it again!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! I just saw that it was a special event and was sure that it would pack the park! It's good to know that it won't really affect our trip. Who knows? Maybe we'll check out the Star Wars stuff!
