News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

After using the Virtual Queue (VQ) twice, I hope that it is used on every new attraction that is high demand for the first few months. Rope drop for FOP sucks. Its an uncivilized mob full of people who push, shove, cut you off, and wedge between me and my family. Everytime we do it, there are at least 3 people who I feel deserve a beating. The VQ is so smooth and easy. Scan, take 20 steps into the park, and get a group. Both mornings were so enjoyable. We rode TOT, RNR, and TSMM with no lines.

I hope Magic Band data shows lots of food and merch purchases in the two hours after a person gets their boarding group. Disney will see that a VQ is profitable.
Now that's an interesting thought! I have no idea myself what that answer would be but I've been lurking and reading threads on this forum for quite some time and the conversation comes up quite often regarding local AP's and their lack of spending inside the parks. Maybe on someone's first visit they try some dining in SWGE or maybe a blue milk and a droid but does the average local keep purchasing "the extras?" I don't know but perhaps someone else does. Of course all the people lining up aren't locals but just the small sample size on this very thread indicates there must be a significant percentage of these people.

I'm a local and almost always make a purchase every trip. Whether it's a new magicband or a beer when walking around, it's usually something lol.

Gotcha. I'm sure there are those that do make purchases and those that don't. I'm just curious what the numbers will show. I'm from out of town and have an AP and we do long visits staying onsite. After calculating everything it's an insane amount of money per day that goes to Disney. But it would seem if I lived there and visited often the food offerings, snacks, and such might get a bit stale so to speak. Also perhaps instead of making an impulse purchase on a souvenir I might be more inclined to hold off on that purchase since I'd be back soon and in the meantime just might change my mind and not make the purchase at all. It just seems without a deluxe resort stay in the mix and a few meals a day it would be impossible for a local visitor to spend that much per day. It's not a criticism just an observation. I know if I lived there my per day spending would be probably 10-15% what it is now.

Day per spending is definitely less than a resort guest. But count up ~60-70 days I've been to a Disney park this year and I think the gap closes considerably.

On site resort guests should get some kind of advantage In getting on RotR! They are the ones paying the huge bucks staying on site! A unique perk that makes the onsite resort guest feel special and could show the extra value in staying on site WILL create return guests staying on site.

But then again, does Disney need to do this? Folks just keep coming anyway.....
Well I can tell you that we just did a trip from 11/3 - 11/20. First night at Cabana Bay to experience Hagrid's then the remainder of our visit was split between Beach Club water view and Polynesian theme park view. We have always ignored those that spoke of staying offsite at equal or better accommodations for a lot less money. However after this situation we have discussed it and we are just going to save the money. Disney obviously doesn't need our money and there will certainly be someone else to take our place. No problem it will save us loads anyway. Likely will start staying at Universal. Cabana bay was really nice and super cheap!

Local AP here! I for sure don’t spend the same amount as visitors do for food every time I go to the park. However, I do usually always spend some amount of money on a snack I want to try/have again whenever I go. So instead of $100 per day (just randomly throwing a number out there) I might end up eventually racking up on that amount every 2-3 months.
Gotta say though, I use the parks as my main source for Christmas gift shopping so Disney gets a good amount out of me every Christmas season lol

HELP! Advice needed.

AP but NOT staying onsite. Wish to on ROTR this Sunday when there is EMH....

Question: Will the boarding groups be gone before I'm even allowed into the park? Can I enter early and seek a boarding group at the same time they are offered to everyone else? Any advice is appreciated. Wish to know if it's even worth the effort to get up on Sunday morning.....
My friend just went on yesterday, day pass only. He arrived early and got a boarding pass. The ride did break down but he did finally get on. So, yes, go for it. Just get there by 6ish.

I’m usually with the kids and even with a backpack full of food/drinks, I consider it a moral victory if I get out spending less than $20 a visit.

And since we go around 3-4x per month, it adds up quick.
