Wait, 52 is a backup now? :eek:
Interesting... so did the app tell you that you were a “backup”?

I really don’t like the lack of ROTR visibility if you don’t have a group these days.
Yes the app said we were in a backup group. I meant to take a screen shot but forgot.

Also, the app does not tell you the current status of boarding groups. You need to check one of the tip boards throughout the park.

Leaving off the current boarding group on the app is such a weird change. Like... why lol
It’s really a pain. We had no idea where we stood until we got the push notification, while we were having dinner at Mama Melrose! Thankfully we were able to finish eating and make it to Rise with a few minutes to spare.

Just an FYI I've heard (not done it myself). That if you show up late to your boarding group and show that you had a food reservation, they will let you in late.

Can somebody link to a post with the "best practices instructions" for getting a BG? Thanks!
Does anyone know what happens if the ride is down and you have a group? I understand that you get a raincheck but what if nothing runs that day. Would you get a rain check valid for the next time you are in HS?

Good question. Previously if you were in a non-backup group and you were never called I believe they were still giving 1 day passes and a BG for the next day for any time.

Now with the capacity constraints, I don't know how they're handling it. My guess is that they are being so conservative with the "guaranteed" groups so they don't have to cross that bridge. If you have a backup and are not called then that's the luck of the draw.

It doesn't surprise me. Before I ever started posting in this thread, I found a glitch in the Android app that let me go straight to the select party screen even when the queue wasn't open. That screen doesn't do any sort of verification to determine whether you can actually join a BG until you hit the Join button (it would just cause unnecessary network traffic/server load), so there's no reason for that not to work.

There's no real benefit to it, but it's definitely a unique method, intentional or not.

I’m still confused? If you sit on the Party select screen, normally the next screen tells you what group you got (after it processes).

I was under the assumption that you were skipping the JOIN button push by being on Party Select (therefore saving previously seconds or tenths or seconds) ?!?!?!

What was that? The wall of code they looked like gibberish to the naked eye?

Is there an easy way to access this and use it?
I just have it bookmarked. The range of groups called is here

..Still don’t know what I’m looking at

If I may, with all credit to @Joel for his awesome work identifying the URL for the MDE RotR raw data returned by the server. It appears the data is there but MDE interface was changed not to display it.

The text highlighted by @disneygeek90 is the only key information, you can ignore the rest.

Specifically:
"currentArrivingGroupStart":##
"currentArrivingGroupEnd":##

Where "##" is the boarding group number (I substituted with "##" to help clarify), I've seen these number get incrementally bigger throughout the day and further apart. For example it's currently:
"currentArrivingGroupStart":49,"currentArrivingGroupEnd":59

It would appear that BGs 49-59 have been called to start queuing up. If neither number increases then I suspect that indicates the ride is down for the one hour that has been reported. I just refreshed and it's 50-60, so that's a good sign!

Sorry, I was talking about the Join button on the select party screen, not the Join button that gets you to the select party screen.

Of course, you could save some time by already being on the select party screen when the queue opens, but it's just not very practical.

Today's queue opening times:
10:00:03.752 +/- 0.055s
1:00:00.825 +/- 0.048s
4:00:00.353 +/- 0.039s

I did notice that it took me a couple refreshes (even starting about a second late) to get the Join button at 10.
