DHS Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Have I told you lately that I šŸ‘ you?
Can you describe what your join group technique was again šŸ˜†
Haha, here you go!

1. Turned phone off about 6:50 and back on 6:55 to clear any memory hogs from apps open earlier that slow things down from the background (Waze, Facebook, etc)
2. Open the app 6:59
3. Click on ROTR link (ā€œFind out moreā€) at exactly 7:00:00 (watching seconds tick closer on digital display on my iWatch)
4. Click check status
5. Click join group, select my party, and confirm join
6. Profit!

Iā€™ve been keeping my wifi off for the process too and relying on my cellular network.

Iā€™m not sure if all steps are necessary, but the combination has been working for me! Yesterday group 10 (9 being first overall); today group 12 (10 being first overall assigned).

Best of luck everybody!

Determined to make this work now lol! Letā€™s hope for a smoother day than yesterday. Checked in 3 mins earlier than yesterday and received a backup 7 groups lower.

It is so interesting showing up at 8:15 rather than 6:15. You would literally have no idea that there was a brand new, sought after attraction that people were in line for 3 hours ago. Both days Iā€™ve gone from the parking booths to into the park in under 10 minutes.
Here's hoping that Darth Ops deems you worthy of access.

Have you had any issues with ā€œjoin groupā€ not being available when you click right at 7??

@KevinPage maybe try this.

The initial join group button (the one next to check status) hasnā€™t been available clicking right at 7, so I have just been clicking on check status, which has given me an activated ā€œjoin groupā€ button to click on immediately each time. Itā€™s possible that if I waited a few seconds the first page join button could be activated, but havenā€™t tried it, I figured the joining through ā€œcheck statusā€ page had good reviews further back in the thread, so stick with what works!

Cool, thanks! I think I'll try your technique next time I rope drop. My parents, brother and I have Feb 1 marked for ROTR, brother hasn't been to Disney in years so I want as low a number as possible for them. Maybe Iā€™ll test this weekend.

There are still backups available at 9:18. Seeing as how I got 7 groups lower at almost the same time as yesterday, this adds up.

A friend is going to WDW in a few weeks. Their game plan was to have one member of their party go to DHS at rope drop so that he could get a Boarding group for Rise. Will he be able to get all members of his family into the boarding group or do all of them need to have tapped their MagicBand and entered the park to be included in a boarding group?

They all need to have tapped their MB's to be a part of the same BG.

Groups closed a bit before 10, and it seems stalled at group 48.

That won't work. All members wanting a boarding group need to be tapped into the park.

So my sister was doing a practice run for joining a boarding group this morning. She is in Ohio.
The ā€œjoin a boarding groupā€ was lit up and she had a backup group....but we arenā€™t anywhere near a park and nobody we are linked to was tapped in. Has anyone seen this before? She canceled the backup group because we didnā€™t want to take anyoneā€™s spot. Screenshots coming soon.

That seems to be a malfunction. You shouldn't be able to do that unless through the touch points at the main entrance.

Anyone can get into the app and apply for a boarding group, but when you go to select your party, it will tell you that they are not in the park.

It'll be lit up no matter where you are. Are you sure she went through the whole process of choosing users, clicking join, and receiving a number? That would be the first false positive recorded here.
