Star Wars Museum taking over Innoventions Rumor

Someone also posted on another prominent site that Mystic Manor will be coming to Anaheim (I'm guessing DCA) and will be announced at D23. Another rumor of course.

While that would be amazing, I find that particularly hard to believe. Like almost positive that's not true.

Where are all of the "theme" purists outraged about this? Star Wars in Tomorrowland is AT LEAST as bad as Frozen in Norway.

Star Wars has been in Tomorrowland since 1986. It's not ideal, but it's not nearly as egregious as Frozen in Norway, which is a real place with a real culture in a theme park ostensibly dedicated to celebrating said culture. Tomorrowland is not a real place and it's such a cluster that people have ceased to care.

Besides - if this indeed happening, it'll be temporary since Star Wars is getting a dedicated land in Disneyland in just a few short years.

Which I maintain is wholly inappropriate.

I prefer it to taking over Tomorrowland, which was the original plan some time ago. Movie themed lands don't fit the original Disneyland aesthetic, but at this point it seems to be inevitable. Toontown is no great loss and at least this way Tomorrowland can be saved for being...tomorrowy.

That's very reasonably put. So why doesn't it apply to Frozen?

That's a rhetorical question, I'm not asking you to respond for everyone.

It doesn't apply to Frozen in Norway for me because it has nothing to do with the theme of the park, let alone the pavilion it's going into. While Disneyland is a park with a theme so broad it can be a catch-all, Epcot is not so broadly themed. World Showcase is to showcase the cultures of the world. Frozen does not represent Norwegian culture anymore than "My Name Is Earl" represents American culture. The attraction won't even go to any lengths to try - at least Gran Fiesta Tour is ostensibly a tour of Mexico and its sights while chasing Donald. There's no such pretense with Frozen Ever After.

On top of that the attraction is being shoehorned onto an existing low capacity ride system. I suspect fans would be more forgiving if Epcot was receiving TDS' Frozen E-ticket.

Star Wars can comfortably live in Disneyland, but Frozen sticks out like a sore thumb in Epcot. Others may disagree, but in my twisted mind, that's how it falls out.

All of Tomorrowland, with the exception of Space Mountain is a mess so adding Star Wars doesn't really feel any different. Buzz, Nemo, Marvel meet and greets, movie previews at DL...Stitch, Monster's Inc, Buzz at WDW. Theme went out the window long long ago.

I'm not a fan of putting more 'Star Wars' in Tomorrowland.
It belongs over at DCA, or more appropriately DHS in Orlando.
NOT Disneyland...regardless of 'Star Tours' which is a Attraction that has a legacy there already and has a small footprint.

Creating a entire themed 'Land' area specifically to one film-based, non-Disney ( regardless of the buyout ) IP is not the way to 'fix' Tomorrowland'.
Turning it into Mos Eisley Space Port, or Endor, is not the answer in my opinion.
Put that in a place where you can do the property justice and refresh 'Tomorrowland' in more original, unique, and appropriately themed ways.

The main problem with 'Tomorrowland' today is it has become a IP dumping ground.
It is 'Todayland' when you think about it.
Let's see some of that pulled back and a new re-do focus more on making it 'futuristic' feeling again...instead of another synergy exercise.
That is what DCA is for...and DHS...where 'Star Wars' really belongs.

I like 'Star Wars' and the property certainly deserves a 'place' at the Parks, but it just seems crazy to me to stick it in Disneyland.
DHS in Orlando makes a LOT more sense considering the land available there to really do it justice.
Heck, even DCA would make a lot more sense thematically then 'Walt's Park'.

I would argue that Star Wars is a way worse fit for DCA than it is for Disneyland. Since Star Wars won't be taking over Tomorrowland but will be getting its own separate land (that will take over the Toontown site along with lots of backstage space), Tomorrowland doesn't even really enter into the equation for Star Wars.

DCA is still ostensibly about California, and Star Wars has absolutely nothing to do with that. It could be added onto Hollywood Land because movies, but that's even weaker than giving it a dedicated land in Disneyland. At least Disneyland is about fantasies in various times and places. Star Wars is a sci fi fantasy - much more appropriate for DL than DCA.

Ideally Star Wars would be a third gate, but that's obviously not going to happen. The great news about Star Wars Land is that it's NOT taking over Tomorrowland - which can then be properly redone in theme (fingers crossed). If Star Wars was taking over Tomorrowland, then it would certainly be lost for good.

Star Wars is coming to DL whether we like it or not.

I prefer Marvel goes into DCA, and do a Disneyland Paris style Discoveryland overhaul of Tomorrowland. That would be timeless.
