Star Wars Launch Bay replacement?

How about a Journey into Imagination with Figment and Friends - Friends being Dram Finder and Phineas and Ferb characters all exploring the idea of imagining what can be done in the future?
The only problem is that Dreamfinder and Figment aren't as well-known and beloved in the Disneyland community and the West Coast compared to the WDW Community and the East Coast in general. The closest Figment got to any exposure outside of WDW was his cameo in Inside Out, Ralph Breaks The Interent, the queue for Mission Breakout, and the Figment Marvel comics.

Why?

Were they ever to flatten Autopia/the subs it seems an obvious choice to flatten also
If they were to do that it would have happen during that ten years they let the subs rott. Now they have a popular Finding Nemo ride that isn't going away soon.

I still don't know how that cantina set has remained the same for over 4 years with nothing compelling there other than the occasional Boba Fett meet and greet:

I do find it funny that it hasn't been updated since 2017, so it's till stuck promoting the Last Jedi and Galaxy's Edge as if they're upcoming Sta Wars projects.

I think they have forgotten all about Launch Bay. They treat it like Six Flags does with it's dead attraction space. I wonder how many cats live in that cantina set now?

If Disney management is wiling to put High School Musical in Tomorrowland Theatre then i'm terrified of whatever it is they'd plan for the Launch Bay building. Watch it be something incredibly out of place and they'll use it to justify another ridiculous price increase that we'd be willing to pay only because it's Disneyland.

An excellent summary! But you also forgot that from the 1980's until the early 2000's a model of the Dreamcatcher machine was on display in a glass case in Disneyland's City Hall, behind the Guest Relations counter.

Why? I have no idea. It had no point of reference or any explanation. It was just there. Maybe as a gift from the WDW Guest Relations team to the Disneyland Guest Relations team from some forgotten 1980's Christmas party? Who knows. But it was there in Disneyland, for a couple of decades in the late 20th century.

One of Disney's only successful attempts at them trying to make non-WDW fans familiar with Figment (and Journey Into Imagination in general) was the video series "Figment: Language Arts Through Imagination" made between 1988 and 1989 alongside the short film "Reading With Figment and Peter Pan" both were part of Disney Educational Media under the EPCOT Educational Media label. Every once in a while, you would get one person who's first exposure to Figment was this video series before getting familiar with the attraction itself.

However they are considered extremely rare due to these tapes being meant to be sold to schools that would use the tapes as additional tools used by teachers in various lessons.

There was an unproduced Disney Channel TV series called "DreamFinders" that was meant to air during Disney Channel's earliest days. However a script of the episode "Just In Time" exists and can be found in here. Dreamfinder (called Old Eli in the series) was spotted during the "Disney Channel Launch Countdown" video (spotted at 1:23 mark).

If you want a better impression of why the original attraction was so beloved. Check out Martin's tribute video to the attraction alongside the original ImageWorks and "Magic Journeys". It's an hour long video that's worth every minute.

BTW, the reason the Dreamcatcher model was at Disneyland's City Hall might be a nod to the Discovery Bay concept that Tony Baxter came up back in the late 1970s. Discover Bay (which was a planned new area for Disneyland) is also where both Dreamfinder and Figment originated from before becoming characters for EPCOT Center. Just ask @Figments Friend for better understanding about how beloved the duo are.

I agree. What about Tron or Alien? An Xenomorph attraction would be awesome.
I know this is old as dirt but how about a tron themed simulator ride similar to flight of passage? It could work as a sort of smaller light cycle run ride. the space is small but it could work somehow, even if the only flight of passage element is motorbike style seating. I’ll work on a layout concept.

Good idea, it would make a great use of the space, although personally i wouldnt want to see another IP attachment.

Unfortunately they are more focused on changing legendary rides like Splash, rather than invest in giving tomorrowland some TLC.
