Star Wars Jedi Training/Getting Selected

Curious. My four year old son Luke, (does that give you an indication of how big a star wars fan I am) was heart broken when he wasn't choosen for Jedi training at Disneyland last year.

Short of bribing Darth Vader (just kidding), I'd appreciate thoughts or suggestions on how to increase his chances of being selected for the training this year.

Thanks,

Shooter

My son really wanted to be chosen when we went to disneyland as well. He did end up being chosen, but he was worried that he wasn't very good, and he didn't get to fight vader which he really wanted to do, he ended up fighting maul.

Anyway, I had him wear his darth vader t shirt the day we were planning on doing it. Then, when they were doing the selection process I told him to wave his hand and jump up and down. We got there early so we were standing in the front. They made some jokes about his having a vader shirt and told him that they would try to convert him. So he got picked and was very happy about it.

I asked him if he wanted to try it next time and he said no. he said the light saber was hard to work. But he said if I bought him one of those for his birthday he could practice on it so that he would be better. Smart kid.

Hey...can I tag on another question?

For some reason, I can't find a single guide book that talks about this! I thought maybe it had come and gone. Can you tell me where this show takes place? (I assume the Studios...but which theatre?) How often do they do it?

I know this will be on the park guide the day we get there, but everyone in my family is a Star Wars fan. (My boys think they have a cool mom because I saw the original 14 times in the theater, and still have stickers and stuff from that release, lol!) I haven't really talked about it because I don't want to get their hopes up, but it's something I don't want to miss.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Thank you for the information!

We just moved from MO a year ago, but my boys have already forgotten humidity, lol! They are such Star Wars fans that they want to take their costumes...the younger one was Annikan and the older one was Darth Vader, or, as the 6 year old told his brother, "I'm the younger, better looking you!"...from Halloween last year. My older son is 12, tho, so I don't think they'll let him in dressed as Darth Vader even if I lose my mind and tell them they can take the costumes.

I was fixated on Star Wars when I was about 14. My boys are far and away bigger fans that I ever dreamed of being. They think it is uber-cool that I have the original boxed set of DVDs for movies 4 - 6. We have more light sabers at my house than a fleet of Storm Troupers!

They both have Star Wars shirts, so I'll make sure they wear them the day we go to the Studios. I tell you, there's nothing I could do to restrain my little one if he thinks he might get to duel someone. Encouraging enthusiasm is one thing I don't have to do!

I'll have to do the opposite, in fact, prep them for the chance they probably won't get chosen. I'm sure that once the show starts they'll be in heaven even if they don't get to participate!

We took our grandson last year. The first day he was not selected. So we went back the second day in a neon yellow shirt and he was the second on selected. We got there early and got up as close as we could and he just jumped up and down raising his hand. He is not real tall so we thought the bright color probably helped. He fought Vader and had a ball. He will never forget the experience. He purchased a Jedi Training Camp back pack in the store just to the right of the stage and he still loves it.

Good Luck!

It appears the selection process is completely random... We tried a week ago and the section and selection was random. It is sad to see so many disappointed kids not get selected but at the same time, it is a really cool event for little Star Wars fans. I guess I was somewhat relieved that my 9 year old wasn't selected as he is a pretty decent little martial artist who really knows how to handle a weapon/lightsaber. I would hate to see an unsuspecting Darth Vader blurt an obsenity...:lookaroun
