George K quoted in the newspapers about how the resort was bracing for record crowds to come see DCA.

Wasn't Cynthia Harriss the resort head when DCA opened, not George?

To be fair what were the resort execs supposed to say to the news media? "I personally believe that because our leadership in Burbank has chosen to undercut our brand by building the blandest Disney theme park interpretation of the story of the Golden State possible it is unlikely that we will meet our attendance goals in the foreseeable future", or something like that? Even if they had hit their original estimate the park would not have been as busy as the hype they were peddling.

Martin is wise in the ways of the Force.

I mentioned a long time ago (this galaxy, but I was posting from pretty far away), that the really interesting thing about this attraction is that the end result is going to be exactly what you'd expect out of the concept - you fly the Falcon. You walk through the space port and head up into the Falcon and go into the cockpit and sit down and have your adventure. Honestly, if it goes according to plan - the real knock your socks off feature behind this is how seamless it should be (if it works). Once you are strapped in, it'll be pretty much like you'd expect a simulated flight on the Falcon to be.

The tech behind this should be amazing. Everyone will think they are in the same Falcon cockpit. Instead, it will be a cockpit on an pseudo Omnimover. This is where the early word was making a Forbidden Journey comparison from. It's not a true Kuka range of motion; but, it should be enough to allow for some interesting flight dynamics. I'm still not clear how the loading/unloading process will work exactly. I think it may work like FJ's disability load/unload with the RV's entering the next open spot in the carousel - "One Little Spark" indeed.

If it works the way it's supposed to, it will be the Star Wars fan's equivalent of a trip on the Hogwarts Express or going through Hogwarts Castle.

I haven't heard anything recent re: capacity; but, was initially told 2400/pph. Which is good by modern Disney E standards.
From the DHS thread, more details on the MF attraction. The ride tech sounds really interesting. I'm still envisioning something similar to FJ, though this makes it sound like it will be a next-gen simulator. Pretty major difference from what we have heard about capacity as well. If correct, 2400/pph would be excellent, especially if the Battle attraction is even better in that regard.

Well, yes. Then they retire to spend more time with their families...

So it seems like the ride system for the Battle attraction will be a trackless motion base ride and the Falcon will be a blend of Omnimover/Forbidden Journey, is this correct?

Well that's what the major discussion about the ride system going on over in the WDW sections is kind of orbiting around.

Now that Disneyland is autonomous they don't have to go with the cheap version of that ride that Florida is doing. Hopefully TDA will plus it up some. Maybe they will put back in the Bantha/People mover as phase 2.

According to Miceage's map it does. You have to enter the land by passing under the train and then leave the land by passing under the train again. It looks like the train will pass pretty close to BTMR through the old petting farm.

I did not think that new autonomy extended to do "doing our own thing" vis a vis star wars and its rides/plans. I did not see where the two locations had become uncoupled on that or the Toy Story project.

IIRC, George K was running Paris. Paul Pressler was President of the Resort and Cynthia Harris was VP Disneyland Park.

When DCA opened, George was at DLR in a VP Operations role or something similar. He didn't move to Paris until after, somehow managing to retain his job despite the disasters of the Pressler/Harriss era.
