Agreed. I'm not sure why folks are having a hard time with sightlines because of this (other than being pi$$ed about SW). Visual intrusions appear all over the park.

exactly,

These minor elements that pop up in the trees work as the weenie of the land that lures people to that area. I see it no different than other large icons that are seen throughout the park. kind of when you are walking into the park and you get a glance of Space mountain and the Matterhorn. those icons pull you towards that area of the park and gets you excited

Agreed. Anyone pi$$ed about seeing SW sightlines is really just pi$$ed about seeing SWL in general. But someone is more than free to prove me wrong.

Discovery Bay was planned to be physically connected to Frontierland via the ROA. One of the models that used to be in the old Preview Center on Main Street even showed the Columbia docked there.

The land would have had a much bigger impact on sightlines from the ROA than SW:GE.

In defense of those concerned about seeing ANY Star Wars from the river (though I am not one of them) I feel that if a hypothetical 'Tron land' was being built behind those trees, they would complain as well. It's not about Star Wars. It's about breaking the wilderness feel.

This little dome up there is descreet enough (especially compared to all the new mountains) to keep the Frontierland illusion going.

If they chose to build Tron Land in that section of the park, then I think you'd have people rightfully pi$$ed for other reasons than just sightlines. ;)

Remember when, every day, we gush over the indiana jones adventure miniland that never was? The mine train, the railroad, jungle cruise, all sharing a large ride/show building with the ride we eventually got? 30 years later, they dedicate an entire land to another lucasfilm IP and everyone is upset about it. D***ed if they do, d***ed if they don't. If we got one star wars ride in tomorrowland or an overlay, people would have been livid. They did everything they could to separate the lands and to design Galaxy's edge to actually enhance the back splash of the rivers of america with new forests and new mountains. They have a style to them that is quite alien but overall, they are not in a cartoony art style like splash that doesn't fit the realism of frontierland. Every other attraction has an iconic facade and gets a free pass, but somehow star wars should be invisible? Nope.

Discovery bay was cool, but whereas the core disneyland lands were pure ideas and themes in strict isolation, discovery bay was an assemblage of frontierland, tomorrowland, and new orleans square. It was vague. I think it would be delightful at DCA but is redundant at disneyland. As much as SW:GE is a departure from the purity of the disneyland core lands, at least it doesn't try to compete with them thematically and muddy their clarity. It is an indiana jones adventure departure from Adventureland, on steroids, and it doesn't hurt the rest of disneyland. Not putting it in tomorrowland means that even though we are about to have a massive sci-fi presence at disneyland resort, with star wars and then marvel, each with grimey and often dystopian manifestation themes, tomorrowland has been left alone so that we can hope for a pure, clean, optimistic vision of tomorrowland in the future, rather than one littered with grafitti, aliens, dystopia, and IP.

This sums up why you'll see me often questioning some of the stuff that gets thrown around these boards. It's taken a number of years to get here, but I've come to the conclusion that there is no issue too big or too small for some Disney fans to complain about.

When deep in discussion, it's easy to forget that 99.99% of all this boils down to nothing more than personal taste.

I've seen Disney build nothing but mediocrity since I became a fan. Soarin, and Remember...Dreams Come True, and Carsland are the only things I can think of that are actually good since the early 2000s. This land will be anything but mediocre. It'll probably, sadly be the best thing I see from them in my lifetime, so I'm more than excited. I will suffer through DCA, DTD, WDW falling apart, and wish I was at WESTCOT or Port Disney Long Beach all day, but star wars galaxy's edge will actually be good.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Tomorrowland after SW:GE opens. If anything does.

The rumors have been there is a major overhaul coming, just a matter of when. The question that has been holding it up is what is the overall look/feel they want to go for. And what new attractions and updates to existing ones do they do. Because whatever they do has to last 25-30 years.

The never-built Indiana Jones miniland in Adventureland is no different, really, than the Wonderland miniland of Fantasyland other than it being of higher quality. They both fit perfectly into the realm they're assigned to and do not take up 14 acres of the park's real estate for two rides. Star Wars really doesn't fit in any of the lands properly, though, closest being Tomorrowland thematically but the aesthetics of Star Wars do not match that of Space Mountain. I've said before that I'm cool with Star Wars land, but I think it's silly to say not think there are legitimate problems and concerns people may have towards the project.

I predict that even if it’s a major overhaul, it will not be as major as “tear everything down” TL ‘67.
