I'm still baffled by them building the entire structures out of I beam steel. Seems way overkill (example: the heads). What on earth do they think these things need to survive? :)
Maybe it's a ride envelope thing. I think it would be cool if you start on the bottom floor and drive between their legs. Then later you'd see the top parts again while on the top floor. Anything that's above you would have to be built very sturdily. We're in earthquake country.

Yeah, but the sort of locales Disney Star Wars is capitalizing on are the ones we saw in the old movies. Desert, snow, forest. Really basic stuff with aliens, spaceships and installations. They didn't stray at all from this in their new movie. That concept art doesn't even look right for the prequels. Sort of a mishmash of Naboo, Mos Espa and Kashyyyk, but something's off. Those huge towers (tree trunks?) have to go. It looks more like a place the fellowship stopped at.

Ancient overgrown Temples in A New Hope, Bustling Trader Markets in A New Hope, forest moon of Endor, the swanky underground of Jaba's palace, the rebel base built into the side of a mountain on Hoth. Rural landscales, characters dressed in homespun robes and peasant garb. Seems to fit the land fits the majority of Star Wars.

After @Earl Sweatpants' welcome posting of some of the less circulated SWL concept art, I thought that as we go forward, it might be a good idea to coalesce some more of the other less-seen artwork out there into this thread. All of what I'm posting are interior or semi-enclosed renderings that were released over a year ago, and apparently show life in the marketplace zone of the land, but may have more to do with atmospheric goals rather than what we might actually expect to see. At least they serve to illustrate a type of experience that Disney wants to present. If anyone has other more obscure examples, please feel free to toss them in.

Let's assume there won't be a pirate auctioneer anywhere near this red-gowned woman.

And of course the cantina artwork is more commonly seen, but here it is again anyway.

They did... that concept art is no longer representative like I mentioned. They went away from petrified trees to actual rocks it seems.

I'm trying to convince myself that I'm not a giant Disney/Star Wars nerd. This talk of At-At size and pronunciation really isn't helping my delusions. Can we talk about sports or something? And no, comments like Stormtroopers aren't tall enough to be good basketball players will only make things nerdier. Thanks for your cooperation.

That depends, would you use a cloned team or no? I heard the non clones tend to not conform as well as their cloned counterparts.

Could it be that they need to house heavy show equipment?
There is heavy... like what your house can hold with wood beams... or what stage rigging holds with steel tubing... and then there are skyscrapers made with ibeams :D

That thing has more structured steel than the mountains of carsland :)

I'm sure there is some durability justification or something... just seems really odd since it's not just the spine or support... but the whole shape

A10ft sized box doesn't need to have 6" ibeam box frame to be earthquake proof :)

It's just interesting why they went this way. Maybe someone had an overstock of beams they were selling :)

10 feet? Have you actually looked at the photos o_O

Perhaps you could suggest what construction method and materials make more sense to you. ;)

The one thing that these do tell us is that the figures are static. The heads or legs won't move. We might get guns shooting at us from the front but that's about it.

Maybe the AT-AT are being overbuilt because people will be in them. Would CM Stormtroopers manning these things and interacting with the guests be out of the question?
They are a little small for cast members to be inside. That would be cool to have live actors in the ride. I think it is just WDI's need to waste money somewhere.
