If they decide to go that route then I hope they also at some point make a SW themed resort for the masses. I know many huge SW fans who would love to stay at a place like this while at WDW but have no desire to play dress up or limit their movements to the resort for days at a time.

Maybe they will... but that isn't a reason to shape what you set off to build here.

The idea that a product must be for EVERYONE and EVERYONE's needs is fallacy. You need an addressable market of sufficient size and access... not EVERYONE.

To use the cruise ship analogy: I know many people who don't want to be on a boat and refuse to cruise. That in no way stops cruise lines from being successful since there are plenty of people who don't mind all the restrictions that come with being on a boat.

Exactly... this "well this won't work for my uncle joe..." - no one cares.

...the reality is, at least SOME of the people here actually work...or own...or have responsibilities.

Some take care of the elderly...some have patients..many have school/family commitments that may require interruption.

Aren't these the same people who already are limited in what they can do and where they travel? Why is this any different?

A person says "I can't travel to europe, because I can't be that far away from my sick elderly parents" - That doesn't mean we change Europe... it means that person finds alternate entertainment that does fit their life needs.

They’re gonna be flexible on this whether they like it or not. Or word will get out.

“Out of range because I’m on the Death Star jun 1-3” won’t go over well as your away message.

Except... this already happens in countless places and has forever.

Besides, for those that want to have the outside world... I'm sure there can be some sort of 'business center' equivalent that can be off to the side that could be used for non-vacation activities if needed. There is no reason you need to drag the entire design down for this.

I'm sure guests will keep phones, and cast can simply ask and encourage NOT using them during key times. Characters will make jokes about their form of communicators, etc. And guests that are disruptive with their phones during key times will simply be addressed like any other disruptive guest would be.

This is not life & death crap here... it's easily addressed without asking people to give up a kidney.

But cruiselines grant access or sell it and it doesnt change everyday contact that much. Emails and text come in all day...which is how most modern communication operates anyway.

It's really only been like that in recent times. And still isn't that way in many rustic or remote vacations. People adapt... its just the ones who think they can't... who refuse to try.

Well, if you can't post a message like that, looks like you're not really on vacation. In a true emergency, they'll have ways -- and nobody will fault them for it -- to break character and do what you have to do.

But the boss's assistant wanting to know what you did with that box of documents from the Johnson deal -- that can wait 'till you get back from Dagobah.

No. If you have more details, please feel free to share.

It's what I've been doing since the thread was started. Go back and you'll see in posts I've mentioned what was pitched or what was specified or not. It's all subject to change from when I was briefed, but I've guided based on what the pitch was.

I'm still nervous that they will pull it back further and further as they get closer and more people complain about not reaching facebook while they've paid thousands of dollars to be somewhere else.

Yeah, I could really see that happening, especially once it get's turned over to operations. I am concerned that the same thing will happen with the interactive stuff they have talked about with the land itself.

I think some people forget that we can use our imagination as well.

Not a huge deal to me if I have to park in a parking lot and enter a spaceship on the ground. I’m sure they can use the window scenes to show the ascent to space.. we don’t really need simulator rides, imo.

Also, no one is going to make guests give up their phones. Asking for silent, asking to not use a flash, containing to phones and not tablets- ok. The No Phone period thing is completely unrealistic. Feel free to tag and inform me if I’m wrong. ;)

It’s a nice concept in theory. But I gave you the prime example: physicians. If Mrs. Kennedy is due next week but develops a
Complication...do you not return the calls from the hospital because it’s “Wookie night at the improv”??

Again. It’s just two dimensional theory...something you see ALOT around these parts.

I tend to go “cellphone” dead when I’m out of town and I work with people that have had that philosophy for decades (4 day weeks/4+ weeks off for 30 years)...but I would pay attention if 5 minutes was needed.

You know where it’s hard not to notice your phone? Places that require it to coordinate your 6 month Preplanned down to the minute vacation...

Yeah..recent times...and all
Times moving forward...like 202_ when this thing may get done. It can’t be until at least 2020/21 and tech may evolve more even by then.

Physicans put other people on-call. They are not connected 24/7. They too get to go on vacation.

The only people who think this is impossible are the ones who don't actually try.

Ever considered I've seen more the general public??

Prior or current experience with the actual subject does not matter here...what only matters is if you have a box office chart, make vague innuendo about construction, a basic economics textbook on your kindle, or generally hate most of your fellow citizenry when it comes to pricing...

...I’ll be here all week, folks.

They are not forced to. There’s WiFi on every major cruise ship.

What world do you live in that there's one and only one doctor who will respond to your emergency? Or that there's WiFi available 24/7 every place on the planet?

Doctors go on vacation and some purposely go off grid. You have to deal with the person who's covering for them.

Even if they didn't go off grid, what are you going to do about your emergency when they're on a 12 hour flight to Asia and have no phone service for the entire time? And if you need them to perform a procedure immediately, there are no Star Trek transporters to get them to your emergency room in Sandusky from Tokyo.

Turn off my cell phone? What do you think this is? A movie theater?

And yet...they develop interpersonal relationships that sometime intervene. Mrs Kennedy could be the cousin of s college friend and need reassuring.

I have clients and projects that pop up that require minimal attention for high return...many if not most do. The clientele for this project are NOT timeclock punchers.

It is what it is...used to work WITHOUT cell and email.😱

I managed a crew of 20 at yacht and wilderness where it didn’t matter if it was me or brer fox in that job...

Things change...Life is an evolving box of chocolates.

Once again...you manage to go way too literal...I went into further detail above.

Simple solution - Don't Go.

You're just being argumentative now.. go away.
