Or do you all just walk beneath the sign, "HERE YOU LEAVE TODAY AND ENTER THE WORLD OF YESTERDAY, TOMORROW, AND FANTASY," cross your arms and say, "NOPE- it's all just a paved over swamp!"

I....actually.....did.

Once.

But, you can't blame me for scoffing at Disney unironically lecturing us that just *thinking* about building a luxury resort in the middle of a wetland was a form of ecological genocide worthy of a Captain Planet villain.

So I’m roleplaying myself when I go to a theme park?

My goodness, then my costume could use some work then. Preferably with less in the middle and more in the wallet?

That idea would make playing Roller Coaster Tycoon....a LARPception.

SO META.

And PS - Timon's Hakuna Matata Lakeside Village Resort would have been 100% green, since they are animals and don't have the capacity for large scale manufacturing, i.e. no pollution, no waste, no carbon footprint.

So I don't know what the hell Simba was griping about.

So you never get lost in a good book or immersed in a film? You never forget yourself in a good bit of entertainment?
You never pretend?
I honestly can't say it enough, "perhaps theme parks aren't for you."

This keeps coming up.
Notice, this is ground transport. A bus on the ground, remaining a vehicle on the ground - just riding on Mars instead of Earth.
It isn't mimicking flight.
Now... Disney certainly could build in systems to mimic flight.
But did they?
I don't think so.
It’s true, even I myself have linked this video on other occasions…

The point here was just to illustrate the solution for something that was responsive to the truck's movement.

Well, I’m not an Imagineer (except when I created THIS EXPANSION PROJECT) and my perception is that it is, yes, possible to mount a simulator on a truck and, through technology, neutralize everything that reminds us of this vehicle to involve and “delude” the guests. BUT (oh boy lately they are recurring) I believe WDC is not going in that direction.

Sure I do. All the time.

However, I don’t feel like attending a theme park - or any of the examples you mention - are equivalent, even mildly, to LARP or roleplaying, which I feel takes a much deeper and/or stronger level of engagement.

Isn't visiting a theme park at least a mild form of larping? Doesn't every land, ride, and meet and greet involve some amount of playing along?

The key difference between a LARP and a Disney parks experience is this - in a LARP you play a character, in Disney you come as yourself.

I'm wondering why Disney didn't build the Starcruiser within walking distance to Galaxy's Edge? Then the simulator transport up to the ship could have three exits (or two exits and a movable wall on the Earth/GE side to direct guests one way or the other). One leads into the Starcruiser, another leads back to check-in/Earth, and the other to Galaxy's Edge. Theme the exit similarly to what's being done for the trucks. Departures from the Starcruiser on Day 2 exit to GE. Day 1 and 3 exit to Earth. With this setup, Disney doesn't need to develop specialty ground transport or pay a driver. It's also simpler and cheaper than what's being implemented.
