There was small children drew into the concept art... and discussions about entertainment for all ages.

Agreed. This will indeed be family friendly because it's Bob Chapek's mantra: timeless, uniquely Disney, and family friendly.

Every deluxe resort has play areas for small children. Cruise ships have events for children to participate in. I would bet there would be an arcade with SW games, just like on the cruise ship. Wouldn't be surprised if families with children make an excursion to DHS for their own Jedi Academy. Older children will readily follow along with parents on whatever light or heavy LARPing there may be. In then end, they'll probably wind up leading their parents around. SW dance party? Sure.

Would this bother some adult LARPing purists? Yep. But they're the ones that will have get over it. Hang out in the bar (which may be the one place children aren't allowed, along with an adult pool/whirlpool) and have an hour long discussion of galactic politics with the CMs and other LARPers.

My experience is very different. Maybe because most of the parents are fans, and then the other kids get into it because their friends are. We've been to SW themed after SW themed bday party in the past year and a half, and even our summer camp has an entire Star Wars theme week.

The super heros are popular with them, but the movies not as much. Personal preference I guess.. but I think the adult content in Marvel is a lot more prevalent than what is seen in SW.

I should add that I agree that they probably don't understand all of it.. mostly due to the order of the movies. It took a few minutes for my kid to realize what was going on in Rogue One, who the characters were, and it was definitely his least favorite of the bunch, but he did love the battle scene for sure.

If you look at stores- from PBK to Bed Bath and Beyond to Toys R Us the merchandise is definitely being marketed to that age group.

I don't know many tweens who are running around with light sabers and Star Wars mini figures, I think at that age they've already outgrown a lot of the toys.

This hotel should definitely be a mix of people I think.
I'd go so far as to say that one of the things many look forward to as parents is the ability to share their love of Star Wars with their offspring. Most don't have the patience to wait until they are older than 4 or 5. My son was Luke for Halloween in Kindergarten. Plus a variety of other Star Wars characters though the years.

Anyone who thinks there won't be young kids involved here is kidding themselves.

You think they are going to have a "check in" station at 7am every morning? I say no way.
It will be a reasonable time.

I don't think you will have to make a distinction. I think it's just going to be organic. Like you are let loose in an interactive queue, but the doors actually open, rather than are simply part of the theming. You won't (I suspect) move from a "hotel room" to "the main area".. the whole thing will be "main area" for the purposes of theming and immersion. If you call "room service" or "maintenance", you'll get someone in ship's livery showing up, who will be, as much as possible, in character. The "hotel" will be referred to as "the ship", etc etc and so forth.

It's actually not that hard to do it, if your staff is onboard. (no pun intended)

Agree. I've never heard of SW fandom starting at 9-10 years old before reading this thread. Not now, and not when the originals came out. Even more so today as now it's so passionately shared between the 2 generations.

And really, does it matter if a 6 year old comprehends every single nuance of the storyline? I mean-- light sabers, tie fighters, the millennium falcon, good vs evil.. what's not for a kid to love?lol

The whole reason Disney bought SW is for it's youth appeal. The franchise is targeted towards them in a lot of ways.

It's modeled, openly and with acknowledgement, on the old RKO telepictures serials that ran at Saturday matinees across the country. The themes are simple.. cowboys and indians in space. The identifiers are obvious.. the uniforms distinctive, etc etc. It works on a bunch of levels.. from young to old, because it's not deep.

Exactly.

Star Wars has ALWAYS been a franchise that attracted kids and adults. Always.
Even when I was a kid in the 80s.
Disney had nothing to do with it then.

When I say age limit im thinking 6-8 at the low end I dont see this as an 'adult only' experience nor do I see it as a experience for infants and preschoolers

Just imagine the FUN this experience will be with screaming 18 month olds...

I think the only way children that age will be there is if they have an older sibling...or if their dad is @CaptainAmerica. ;)

I have a feeling they will have activities suitable for all ages as well as some activities that are more age restricted (maybe later in the evening). That is my hope anyway. I can tell you that my little padawans were already Star Wars fans by the time they were four (though we did censor out some of the scenes for them until they were mature enough to handle them).

I'm wondering if non-occpuants will be allowed to visit this Hotel/Resort to participate in the activities or just to sightsee.

Where also pretty sure with technology like the Magic Bands, characters will remember all the activites and attractions we've done, creating a story for us.

I would imagine that non-guest viewing would either be extremely limited or non-existent.
Given the small maximum capacity for the experience, I'm not even certain that the Star Wars thing would get full Disney bus service- transportation might be limited to a small number of vans and/or the upcoming "Minnie Van" service. Either way, I wouldn't expect non-guests to be able to resort-hop to it with any degree of ease, as one would to Port Orleans, say.
Assuming everyone without credentials isn't turned away at the guard shack, I would anticipate access would be limited to a small gift shop and a lobby that also functioned as a preview center of sorts for the experience... assuming that such a preview experience isn't either a) not needed or b) located at MGM.

Do Visitor's get to preview a cruise ship?

This is basically the same kind of entertainment. It is an all inclusive experience that is as active or in depth as you decide to make it. Stop comparing it to other resorts at WDW or trying to do a like for like analysis of a typical WDW vacation. This is an existing entertainment concept applied in a new and unique way.

Less 'Westworld' and more I think like Larry Niven's 'Dream Park' which would be amazing if Disney can pull it off, Disney in the Nineties could have, Today's Imagineers not sure they are up to the task

It seems like as long as the tie an IP to it, Disney's execs are loosening the purse strings in Imagineering. The Star Wars Hotel that's been announced sounds like something that was pitched as totally blue sky that wouldn't have even been pitched 5 years ago.

I hate the IP trend, but if the quality is there on this stuff than it's far more acceptable.

On one hand, I really want to see all the details and know what to expect before jumping head first. On the other hand, I want to be completely amazed and go into it blind. I'd imagine not everyone would be considered a rebel. There are a lot of people that fully embrace the Empire/First Order. Could you imagine the money people would pay to have a (insert trooper style name here) costume and get a picture receiving a commendation from Captain Phasma. Or how about sitting with a group of bounty hunters dressed as a Mandalorian?

A giant vader that doesn't move, with strobes on him? :)

I think launch bay was/is meant to be temporary, only ever a stopgap till GE got built.

That IP is a license to print money. Has been since Lucas convinced us to buy a cardboard box with an IOU for a toy in it.

I can't see them letting people tour it. Even some of the deluxe lobbies can feel overrun by all of the crowds they attract from the POV of a guest staying there. This would be a whole other level
