Here is January 2019. Looks like they are done with the compaction and are probably using the earth to fill in other parts of the area.

They are collecting a teaspoon of soil, rock, water, etc. from every place on earth that has been the location for an astronomical event in which an extraterrestrial object has landed. For example, they just obtained a small sample of wood from Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia that commemorates the Tunguska event.
